"I think you've met my daughter?" He asked. "Yes sir, she escorted us in."

The Princess seemed like every other little girl I had been assigned to babysit, the only difference was her rank. "Great then, all I ask is that you make sure absolutely no one, and I mean no one."

"Hurts her in any way shape or form." He tossed a stack of papers in front of me, a clear label on them. 'Project Sunshine'

I skimmed over the rules and regulations, times and agendas. "You will need me until when Sir?" He signed, unsure as to how to answer my question. "I don't know son... The contract I drew up is for a year, and if you're willing to renew we can do that."

I nodded, but something on the contract caught my eye. "What is Amarok?" I asked, I had an extensive knowledge of werewolves and lycans. However, amarok was a foreign subject to me.

He eyed me wearily. "Lycans have gifts that have been bestowed upon them by the gods. Every Lycan is different. Some do show gifts, some don't. Amarok is my beast. I don't allow it to come out, but once in a rare moon it takes over, it shows no mercy even to its pack. You must insure everyone is inside until the next day when the Sun is up."

Interesting....

"If that happens, you need to take my daughter far away from here and lock her away. You must also hide until the sun comes up."

(present)

"Amarok is my beast, it shows no mercy. You must take me far away from here and once you've left me run." My body was in autopilot as I tore her covers off her body. She wore nothing but a black shirt.

That won't do

I picked her up carefully and somehow managed to tear the thin sheets that covered her bed. As soon as I had them in my hand I made sure to tuck them around her legs.

No one would see her in a compromising position.

Not even me.

I rushed us down the stairs, I could see pack members rushing to board up windows and guards running into their patrol houses.

But her and I kept running, I sped past the gates, hearing the guards slam them shut once we made it out. I ran past the forest line into lone lands. I couldn't see the moons rays, but I knew the sun was far away from coming.

She shivered and whined as I jumped through logs and dead vegetation. The forest was thick with fog and the air seemed frigid at this time of the morning, but she was still damp with sweat.

No way in he'll I'd leave her alone in this

I slowed down upon reaching a small clearing in the empty forest. "Princess" I whispered, pressing my hand to her cheek, she was still burning up. "Hmph.." Her teary eyes finally opened to glance at me. "We're here"

She nodded but still stayed curled up against me. I couldn't help but swallow the tightness in my throat. She was hurting and I couldn't do anything, I couldn't take it away.

I never thought other shifters went though pain when shifting

I carefully sat dawn against a called tree log, making sure to not move her as much. "Xavier... you must leave.." She whispered, however, her hands clenched my black shirt.

I shook my head. "Never Princess... I'll never leave you alone." Her eyes closed as another wave of pain washed over her, she had held in her pain through our travel, only letting out small cries.
