Aris’s P.O.V
She’s gone. She’s gone, and I feel stupid, and I didn't even remember how to move until she was out of sight. Even if I had, she would have hidden.
I had made my way to Sonya and Harriet, trying to explain the situation in a coherent way as they stared at me, still comprehending that I was just in their tent, speaking way too fast, about a girl they barely knew.
As I finished speaking though, taking a deep breath, their eyes and determined expressions showed that it was enough.
That was stupid too I think. Really stupid. Apparently, this location is now a “danger” since she could reveal something. Vince was sure of that, and no amount of pleading, begging, or reasoning, which I had done plenty of, had any effect.
I wouldn't pack anything. Not until she's back.
She’ll come back. I know she will, but what if she doesn't get back in time? If we're just gone, will she just stay here waiting for us to get back? Would I even be able to go with them if I knew that meant not getting to see her?
I don't know. I don't know, and I was already a mess about it. No matter how much I tried to keep myself together, it wasn't working very well.
“Hey, buddy. You planning to eat today?”
I looked at Thomas for a moment, giving a halfhearted shrug before looking back at the ground.
“It's fine. She can take care of herself.”
“I don't just want her to take care of herself. I want her to be here with me.”
The sentence was selfish. I knew it before I even said it.
I don't think I care. It's true all the same. I want Y/N back. I want her deadpan tone, and secret country accent, and harsh glares, and soft hands, and rare laugh, and small smile, and special rants.
“She’ll be back before you know it.”
He was telling me what I wanted to hear. What he thought would make me stop sulking. There was no honestly.
I like honesty. Y/N tended to be honest to me, even when it was terrifying. I want that.
I want her.
