Aris's P.O.V

To say she wasn't fitting in well was an understatement. To say she was trying was a lie.

Apparently, Right Arm's on the move a good amount of the time. When they get to the destination that they hadn't told us about we would stay for good. Until then it was set up, live, pack up, move, and repeat.

Y/N was not enjoying this. Not at all.

While I would be with Sonya and Harriet, they had to help since they knew where everything was. That meant I was just sitting with her in silence, watching as she glared at the ground.

“Are you still thirsty?”I offered, looking at her empty cup and plate.

“I don't need your pity leftovers,”She mumbled.

“It's not pity. You just drank all of yours, and I didn't so-”
“You don't have to play nice to me.”

“Play nice?”

“Yeah. You should have gotten sick of that a long time ago. You should have left me here and gone to talk to someone who wants to be talked to,”She reasoned.

“But do you want someone to talk to?”

“Does it look like it?”

“No, but you also didn't look like you were close to turning into a Crank a few hours ago,”I pointed out.

“Shut up.”

“You say that a lot.”

“I mean it a lot,”She shrugged.

“You mean when you do get to talk to people?”

“I’m surprised you're still paying attention.”

“Why wouldn't I?”

“Because I’m me, and you're you,”She shrugged.

“What do you mean?”

“I mean when I have blood on my hands I don't even think about it, and when someone literally attacks you you don't even kill them. To sum it up, I’m a bad person, and you're a good one.”

“You can't be all bad.”

“You thinking that is just ridiculous at this point,”She scoffed.

“I mean I doubt you killed for fun.”

“Of course not. I’m selfish. Not heartless.”

“So why did you do it then?”

“What's it matter? I did it, and no reason will change that,”She pointed out.

“It won't, but it was probably to live,”I guessed.

“You trying to justify it is really weird. I hope you know that.”

“I’ve just never met someone like you so you kind of interest me. I want to know who you are under what you’ve done,”I explained.

“What you're doing isn't good. The more you know about me the worse off you’ll be. It's dangerous to be close to me,”She warned.

“I’ve been around a lot of dangerous things and people who are actually evil. You really don't seem that bad,”I shrugged.

“You say that now, but just wait. If I showed you who I actually am, you’d never think anything good of me, and that's not a threat. It's a guarantee,”She said firmly.

“I won't. You’ll see soon enough,”I promised.

“No. You’ll see,”She muttered, glaring back at the ground. Going back to silence, we waited there for hours on end.

 × ~ × ~ × ~ ×

Sitting in the back of a truck in the dead of night was rough. On the bright side, we got to take the one we brought here. As long as we followed behind them, it was all good.

We all decided on our original seats. Mainly because it's late, and nobody wanted to start an argument. This meant I was back here with Y/N.

Mary had warned us that the cure would probably knock her out. While she mumbled that she doubted it, she was in fact out like a light. Basically the second we started driving she just laid down and passed out.

I hesitated. I thought about it for a while, but I was sure she would hit her head on the metal when we got to the bumpy road. If that woke her up, she would be absolutely exhausted. If it didn't, her head would hurt.

She would probably not appreciate the idea at all, but I laid her head on my lap and draped my jacket over her when she started shivering. Every now and then I would unconsciously run my hands through her hair since I didn't have my jacket to fidget with, and my hoodie was up in the front for some stupid reason.

Laying my head back, I looked at the stars while finding it hard to believe that it was real. Any of it.

It is though. It is so my life is either about to be a lot calmer or way more chaotic.
