HOPE STOOD beside Elena, listening as Stefan, Damon, Rebekah, and Mikael hashed out the intricate plan to lure Klaus back to Mystic Falls. Each voice around her was edged with tension, and she could feel the weight of her own divided loyalties pressing down on her. Though she outwardly appeared focused, her mind was racing, quietly forming a separate plan. The idea of participating in a plot to kill her father was unsettling, and she knew she had to maintain appearances for now.
Stefan spoke first, his tone measured as he laid out the opening move. "All right, let's say Mikael followed Elena in here. He tried to grab her, planning to use her as bait for Klaus."
Elena, raising an eyebrow, looked at him skeptically. "And then what? You just... vervained him?"
Damon jumped in, his confidence unmistakable. "No, we vervained him," he clarified, grinning as though he had already thought of every possible outcome. "This guy is an Original. We have to make it look real."
Stefan sighed but nodded, his patience thinning. "Fine. So, we vervained him, and in the process, we discover he has a dagger with him."
"Which he planned to use on Rebekah," Elena added, catching on to the fabricated story, "but instead..."
