Chapter 2: The Secret of the Toilet
The following weeks were a mixture of anguish and exhaustion for Katrrine. Between her studies, the care for her sick mother, and the tension that reigned in high school with Spencer and her gang, she felt on the edge of the abyss. Fortunately, she always managed to maintain her excellent academic results, which, paradoxically, only attracted more attention to her.
One day, after class, as Katrrine headed to the library for a little tranquility, she noticed that Spencer and two of her friends were following her. His heart began to beat faster, anguish invading him. They had already been insistent in recent weeks, but today it seemed like they were ready to take action. Accelerating the pace, Katrrine desperately looked for a place to hide.
She turned in a hallway and found herself facing a door indicating "Boys' toilets". Without thinking, she entered and locked herself in one of the cabins. Holding her breath, she listened attentively, hoping that the boys did not follow her until then.
After a few minutes of silence, she relaxed slightly, but her calm was short-lived. Voices suddenly rose in the room. Two people had entered the toilet, and their voices were strangely familiar.
Katrrine immediately recognized the voice of Williams Adams, but the other voice... It was that of their main teacher, Miss Laïla Strong! Her heart pounding, she listened in spite of her conversation.
"I already told you, Williams," Laila said in a tense voice. "I can't go on like this anymore. We have to stop before someone discovers everything."
"Stop? Do you want to drop everything like that?" Williams replied, visibly angry. "I'm not ready to lose you. Not now."
There was a thud, as if something had crashed against a mirror. Williams had hit the wall or the sink violently, and Laila burst into tears.
"I…I can't…"
She whispered before leaving the toilet hurriedly, leaving Williams alone. Katrrine, still hidden, hardly dared to breathe. Just when she thought she could slip away discreetly, the cabin door opened abruptly.
She found herself in front of a boy she had never seen before, a big smirk on her face. He had piercing emerald green eyes and messy black hair."Well, well," he said mockingly. "I didn't know that boys' toilets were the new haven for curious little ones."
Katrrine, petrified, didn't know what to answer. She was unmasked, trapped, and above all, terrified by this boy she was unaware of. He approached her, never losing his mischievous smile.
"Don't worry, your secret is well kept. But in your place, I'll be more careful next time. You never know who might surprise you."
Katrrine, panicked, hastened to run out, her cheeks on fire and her heart pounding. As she walked away, she still heard the boy's light laughter resonate in the empty hallways. That evening, as she went to bed, Katrrine's spirit was boiling.
She had discovered a secret with serious consequences: the affair between Williams and their teacher. But it wasn't the worst. Who was this green-eyed boy, and why did he look so threatening, as if he already knew all about her?
Without knowing it, Katrrine had just crossed a threshold. His life would never be the same after this day
