In the final chapter, Ren’s forces gather outside Lady Kuro’s fortress for an all-out assault. Knowing her fate is drawing near, Aiko begins to consider her escape options. But as she watches Ren and his allies from the castle walls, she realizes that running away will only prolong the conflict, endangering more lives. If she wants to truly escape the story, she’ll have to confront Ren directly and change his perception of her.

In a tense showdown, Aiko decides to reveal herself to Ren, hoping he’ll see that she isn’t the evil villain he believes her to be. She steps into the battlefield unarmed, shedding her dark robes in a gesture of peace. Ren, wary and confused, confronts her, sword drawn. Aiko pleads with him to listen, telling him that she’s not the real Lady Kuro, that she has no desire to fight him.

For a moment, it seems Ren is willing to listen. But his allies, seeing her vulnerable, press the attack, and Ren’s resolve hardens. He believes this is yet another trick from Lady Kuro. Heartbroken, Aiko realizes that nothing she says will change his mind. She draws on her powers one last time, creating a massive barrier to keep Ren’s forces at bay, sacrificing herself to buy enough time for the nearby villagers to escape.

In her final moments, Aiko feels herself fading from the manga world, her form dissipating into shadows. She awakens back in her room, clutching her manga volume, the battle’s outcome left uncertain. Although she’s back in the real world, she feels changed, her experience as Lady Kuro haunting her dreams. She realizes that her favorite story is no longer just an adventure—it’s a painful reminder of the fine line between hero and villain, and the choices that define them.
