It's Saturday night and the girls are coming over to get ready before we head out. They better be armed with pizza when they get here I'm starving and I need to line my stomach.
I finish my make up just as the doorbell goes.
"Let us in!" I hear Koda cry from behind the door.
"Coming!" I call back opening the door minutes later. "Hey hey! Did you bring the goods?"
"Wine and pizza? Absolutely, are you ready?" Koda asks and I shake my head.
"No, hair and make up yes but I don't know what to wear. Come help me." I beg as Zara closes the door behind her. "Options... what ya think?" I ask them both as my clothes are sprawled out on the bed.
"That one." Koda points to the velvet black flora cami dress that has flowers tumbling on thin mesh from the straps.
"It's not too much? I don't know if it's too much..." I ask the girls as Zara sits on my bed.
"No, definitely not too much. Leave the other on the bed so you're not tempted to bring that fucking ass over too." Zara scolds and I roll my eyes swiping the dress taking it to the bathroom to get ready.
I pull on the dress checking myself in the bathroom mirror. It looks cute, not too much but dressy enough for a night out.
"I love it! It's perfect." Koda smiles at me as I walk back into my bedroom. "I poured the wine, there's a glass for ya." She nods towards the glass on my bedside table.
"Thank you." I reply and we clink our glasses together. "So where are you guys wanting to go?" I ask taking a sip from my glass then grabbing a slice of pizza from the box.
"There's a new cocktail bar that looks cute." Koda suggests and I nod in agreement.
"We have to go to that bar! You know the one, has the karaoke machine. Please I love it there." Zara begs.
"It's so tacky though!" Koda protests but Zara shrugs not giving a shit.
"It's fun." Zara wriggles her eyebrows and I gotta give it to her she's right.
"It is fun there. Even if we just go for a lil bit." I side with Zara.
"Whatever. Ohhh, I have a bone to pick with you by the way V, why the fuck did you call Sam up again?!" Koda asks and I shake my head.
"Can we not do that right now? It's not happening again honest. That really was the last time." I huff taking a big swig of my drink.
"Has he messaged you since?" Zara asks and I shake my head. It's true, it's been radio silence since that morning. It's only a matter of time though before I get a text, a call, something.
"Good. What about this guys hair that you had to cut? Dish." Koda presses on not giving a single fuck about boundaries.
"He was gorgeous but he's a client so that's that." I sigh taking another sip of my drink.
"Is Grace really that strict on it?" Koda asks and I shrug, so does Zara. "Hmm but what if you were in love?"
"Woah, slow down Koda. Me in love? Nuh uh." I laugh bitterly. I loved Sam. A lot but he fucked that up and I will never fall in love again because I don't want to. I don't need it and that's okay, casual relationships work for me. They did before Sam and they will after.
"Violet, you can't close the door on it." Koda says sympathetically. "Just because one man did you bad doesn't mean they all will." I top up our glasses ignoring the comment.
"That's because you're all lovey dovey Koda, plus you're gay." Zara laughs.
"Okay, you're right I found a good one in Joni but women can be fucking brutal too. Anyway come on, enough of this let's get these drinks down us and go out!"
