Just as Meerab left, Saba entered the ward. She shut the door after her and approached Murtasim, who was looking at the floor and pondering whether or not he had made the correct decision in sending Meerab out. He felt horrible for sending her away since it was her right to be with him, and he did not want to be alone in this environment. However, when he thinks of her thoroughly, he believes they are not ready to develop a good relationship.
A healthy relationship demands trust which they lack, especially from her side and patience from his side. He does not want to forgive her, and he may be wrong, but he does not want to talk to her again. He wants to avoid her as much as possible since he knows that one day she would leave him. She broke the relationship that was gradually developing. She cannot fall in love with him, and even if she did, she would never trust him, therefore it is best to ignore her.
"How are you, Murtasim?" Saba said, capturing his attention. Murtasim gazed at Saba, who was sitting on the couch beside his bed.
"Little exhausted. Why didn't you come earlier if you were here?", Murtasim asked , little bit he knew the answer.
"I don't want to come between you two , Murtasim. I swear I have no feelings for you, and I have no idea what happened to Meerab that-" As Saba tried to explain herself, Murtasim interrupted her in the middle.
"I understand, and I apologize for whatever happened. For me, she is an overthinker and overly possessive. She is terrified of losing me and receiving another betrayal," he added, his voice low owing to his vulnerabilities. Even though he does not know what was wrong with Meerab, he clarified her point since he could not see anybody else misinterpreting Meerab.
"So you are justifying her?" Saba said, trapping Murtasim in his own words, unable to respond and unable to open his mouth since he was at a loss for words. His words that were about to be spoken in Meerab's favor are left hanging in the midst, leaving him speechless.
He looked at the ground and said, "No, I am just telling you." He did not feel like talking to anyone at the moment, but he had to since he did not want to offend anyone. He could feel his heartbeat quickening with every second he spent with Saba alone, fearing that Meerab would misunderstand him once more, overthink things, and ultimately be blamed. Every time he believes that their relationship is solely dependent on his efforts , his trust, and his support, he becomes upset and feels his heart breaking. They had no relationship without it; even thinking about it made his heart sink, and the mere concept caused his eyes to moisten.
Trust is the foundation of each relationship, and their relationship lacks trust. She did not believe any of them, not even Saba. He blinked his eyes, controlling his tears, because he did not want anyone to see them just now. He tightly closed his eyes in the hopes of finding tranquility, but as soon as the flashes of her allegation entered his head, he opened them quickly. He turned to face Saba, who was twitching her fingers, perhaps considering asking him a question but felt hesitant. However, he did not want to engage in discussion with anyone, so he did not even have the guts to ask that.
Saba remained with him for a while and attempted to start a discussion and lighten the atmosphere, but he was unable to respond appropriately since he was not in the mood to pretend to be happy when he wasn't; at the moment, he is not even normal because he is completely broken from the inside. Her accusation has engraved a scar in his heart, and he is unable to erase it, not even after knowing that she is genuinely worried for him. Saba eventually stood up, much to his relief, and he silently thanked God that she had decided to depart.
"Take care. I will see you tomorrow," Saba said as she left the ward, and he felt as if he ga new life after finding himself alone. But his joy was short-lived since Wakes and Aneela, along with a few of his colleagues but not her, arrived to visit him. He felt his heart clench at the thought of hurting her so badly that she refused to come here.
