Yoshio's Point of View
"Nalu!" I exclaimed, adrenaline surging through my veins as I dashed into the crowded airport terminal.
It was like a dream; here I was, trying to get past airport security officials, motivated by my heart's eagerness.
The moment was slipping away, and all I wanted was a few seconds with her before she boarded the plane.
“Sir, where do you think you’re going?” shouted one of the airport security guards. Fear rippled through me, but my yearning to reach her was stronger than the threat of getting caught.
“Please, I just need to talk to her!” I shouted back breathlessly, thinking only of Nalu’s departing figure.
I could feel the weight of their gazes on my back, but my only concern was reaching her, telling her everything that was in my heart before she left.
“Eto na naman tayo. Sir, don’t make us tire of chasing you. You won’t get anywhere,” another guard breathed heavily, the radio crackling with urgent instructions.
“Wala bang ibang paraan? I just want to talk to the person I love!” I cried, my voice breaking under the pressure of my emotions. “Ano bang masama sa gusto kong makausap siya?”
“Saan ka pupunta?” said one of the guards, glancing nervously at his partner.
“We will lose our jobs if we let you pass. May pamilya rin kami.” Their plea sounded hollow against the backdrop of my desperation, but I understood.
They were stuck between their duty and my longing.
I took a deep breath.
The walls of bureaucracy felt insurmountable, but I couldn’t give up just yet. Suddenly, I had an idea. “If you won’t let me pass, then let me speak through the announcement system,” I declared, trying to sound authoritative despite my frazzled state.
The head security officer studied me for a moment, then nodded. “Let him be,” he instructed his staff.
My heartbeat quickened as I stepped toward the announcement area. They watched cautiously, and for a moment, I felt powerful.
I grabbed the microphone, shaking from a mix of fear and exhilaration. I took a deep breath, preparing to bare my soul to the airport and, more importantly, to Nalu.
I began reciting the poem I had penned just for her, my voice quivering but determined as I spoke the words that had been aching in my heart:
“You’re a flower in the autumn breeze,
The fragrance I can’t resist.
You’re the inspiration I really miss,
The lady I wish I could always kiss.
You’re my you even when we’re not together,
A love that will be still forever.
You’re the blood that runs in my veins,
Without you, I may die in vain.
I wish I was a butterfly,
So I could fly to you and hug you tight.
Even in the long but shortest while,
I can still say I love you before I die.”Time slowed as my words echoed through the terminal. I saw Nalu stop in her tracks, her boarding pass wavering in her hand. The weight of the moment brought the busy airport into silence, the world around us fading into the background.
In that instant, I dashed forward, and before I knew it, I had her in my arms. I wrapped around her tightly, as if the very act of holding her would rewind the clock and keep her from leaving.
My feet carried me towards her. “Nalu! Please, don’t go!” I rushed into her arms, embracing her tightly.
“Why are you doing this?” I whispered, the confusion mingling with pure affection in her eyes.
