Avery and Dylan had been video chatting with Max for the last three weeks. It was going well. Sometimes Dylan would even ask to call Max.

Avery was in the middle of a nightshift at the diner. Two more hours and she would be done. She was surprised when she saw Paul sitting in her section. She went up to his table.

"What can I get you?" She asked wanting to get as far away from him as possible.

"Hey beautiful." He said smiling. "A cheeseburger with everything, fries and a coffee."

"Coming up."

When Paul was done Avery brought him his check.

"I thought you didn't date your customers." He said.

"I don't."

"Then why are you dating Max?" "I know he was your customer, I remember him." There's no way Paul should've known that. Max hadn't been in the club since he and Avery started dating. She quickly walked away from the table.

When Avery got home that night, she was startled by seeing several police going in and out of the apartment next door. She went into her apartment. She could tell Shelly looked shook up.

"What happened?" Avery asked.

"Both the tenants next door were shot to death." "It was a burglar."

"Oh my god." "Is Dylan alright?"

"He slept through the whole thing."

"Thank god."

After Shelly went home Avery was sitting up in her bed, still scared to death about the shooting. She called Max.

"Hello?" He said.

"It's me." She said.

"What's wrong?" He asked sensing she was distressed.

"My next door neighbors were shot to death." "It was a burglary."

"Oh my god."

"I know."

"Is Dylan ok?"

"He slept through it." "It could've been him and Shelly." "I need to get Dylan out of this place as soon as possible."
