The Mission - WOF AND KOTLC CROSSOVER

Chapter 4

I watched in horror as we waited and waited for them to rise to the surface.

Tam was freaking out, Biana was crying, Tam AND Biana were crying, Keefe was grieving, Dex was trying to figure out how to make a gadget to help them out of his lufterator, Marella had sparked a fire for warmth, and I... I wasn't able to accept the fact that they were gone.

We waited for half an hour.

"We have to leave in half an hour," I said, checking the drones for the hundredth time. They had covered the entire planet.

And no sign of life. 

We had lost them,..

...for nothing.

Just when I was ready to lose hope, jet black hair popped out of the hole.

"Linh!!" Tam screamed, as she dragged an unconscious body with dark hair out with her, and collapsed on the ice next to the hole.

"Fitz!!" Biana shrieked, ( if possible ) even louder.

"I'm o-oka-y!" Linh shouted, trying to drag Fitz towards us.

"We should help her!" Tam said, as he and Biana tried to step forward to help, but I held my hand in front of them to stop them.

"It's still unstable. Did you find anything, cos, we should go back, Fitz isn't in the best condition." Linh screamed.

"No, we didn't find anything." Marella said, shivering. Either from the cold, or relief.

"Okay, then I'll levitate Fitz and I till the end of the lake." Linh said.

"No wait. The winds are too strong. Open your mind to mine, I'll send you a boost of mental energy." I said.

She did as I told her, and I watched as she flew herself and Fitz on a patch of snow, that looked safe.

We decided to go in pairs, you know, just in case. 

Tam and Biana went next, then Dex and Marella, and then Keefe and I.

We trudged back through the snow, again taking turns to carry Fitz. 

When we reached the space ship, we immediately rushed into the mini hospital that looked like a mini version of the one in Foxfire.

I still hadn't been in most of the rooms in the space ship, and I'm pretty sure only Dex knew all of them.

Dex who was ( no surprise ) the best alchemist out of all of us, brewed a few elixirs and grabbed a bottle of youth from the cupboard.

We chugged the stuff down Fitz's throat, but he still looked blue.

Dex cleared his throat." We shouldn't get out- hopes up, yet.." he added. 

I plucked out my eyelashes. They still had little snowflakes stuck to the ends of them.

Fitz sputtered, and thrashed.

We all leaned closer.

He calmed down again.

"You know, Sophie, I was sure you were gonna hold the record for first medical injury on the mission." Fitz said, trying to smile at us.

"It's okay, you can have this record." I said, smiling.

"Fitz, I swear, you try to die again and Keefe and I will permanently die your hair pink." Biana said to him, as she and Linh suffocated him in a hug.

"Sure- I'll take note.Thanks Linh." Fitz said. Linh blushed.

"Alright guys, give him some space," Dex said, pushing through the circle we had formed," He needs rest."

"Alright Dr.Dexter." Keefe said, in a mock polite way.

Dex rolled his eyes.

He then told Fitz to chug down another bottle, this time purple with silver speckles.

Fitz drank it, and we all left the room, except Linh, who offered to stay behind incase anything happened. 

I gave Linh a book to read in case she got bored, and Tam narrowed his eyes suspiciously at them when the door closed, but left to help Biana, Marella and Dex to get lunch out.

As we ate, I asked Dex, " Someone should probably take some food for Linh and Fitz."

"Sure, I'll go." Dex said, finishing his meal.

I shoved my last spoonful of umber leaves in my mouth, and sipped the remainder of my starkflower stew.

Dex came back and said," They're both asleep. And good, cause after today they both need rest."

"Y'know, your starting to sound like Elvin when I forgot to sleep for five days." I said, only realising later that everyone was staring at me.

"Only you could FORGET to sleep for five days." Marella said, rolling her eyes as Keefe laughed hysterically.

After lunch I went to go check the dashboard. Or whatever it was called. ( control panel? I'd have to ask Dex later.)

The next planet was only a while away, we would probably land at 4:00AM tomorrow.

I told everyone else the news, and they groaned, but decided to go to sleep awhile earlier.

I however, ( as usual ) couldn't.

I couldn't stop thinking of how we'd almost lost Fitz and Linh today.

And I couldn't stop worrying, for what tomorrow had in store for us.
