When I woke up, I immediately got out of bed. Argh.
It was already 2:16 AM! I got up to see all my friends outside.
"You guys let me oversleep?!" I asked them accusingly.
"Yeah, Mrs. Fossboss you need your sleep." Keefe said.
"How are Linh and Fitz?" I asked, cautiously.
"Fitz is still recovering, and Linh's okay, but we need someone to stay behind for today." Dex said, rubbing his eyes.
"I'll do it." Linh said,"The next planet is a dried up one, right? I doubt I'll be any use then."
"Actually, we may need you to see if you can detect any sign of water, and thus life. It's dried out right? That means there was life before." Tam said.
"Yeah, maybe some survived." Biana added.
"Oh, right. I forgot about that--" Linh said when the space craft tilted sideways.
Biana and Marella went sliding to the right, and the rest of us on the left.
"Fitz!" Linh shrieked.
The doors of our clinic opened and the sliding bed went sliding out.
"WHATS HAPPENING?!" Fitz shouted, as the spacecraft tilted again. Marella and Biana came to join us on the left.
Dex, who had somehow made it to the control panel said,"We're nearing a blackhole! The planet is inside!"
Fitz's bed crashed into the dining table, sending him flying--
--into the chandelier.. "Ouch!"
"I'm am so gonna make fun of you for this," Keefe said, as Fitz started to protest.
"SILENCE PEOPLE, DEX IS SPEAKING!!" Marella shrieked loouder than all of us.
"We need two people to go outside! We have to set up the black hole protecters!"
"A spacewalk??" Biana said, groaning as she got up rubbing her stomach.
"Yeah.. It should be Sophie and .. who else?" Dex said.
"Sophie to boost concentration and levitation and stuff, and maybe.. Tam or Linh? They've been at exilium longest so they would be better at these skills." Fitz said, still dangling dangerously low from the chandelier.
"Linh is still sort of weak, so, Tam?" Marella asked.
"Sure." Tam said.
-time skip-
Tam and I grabbed a rope each, and anchored it to our selves and the ship.
We stepped outside, and I could see Keefe and Biana fighting for the window to watch.
We followed the instructions Dex had given us.
I grabbed another rope, and attached it to an anchor.
Tam, meanwhile, found a latch and pulled it, causing a shield made by a Psioniopath, to spread around the ship.
Only...
It locked me out of it.
"Tam!" I shouted.
"BANGSSS BOYY opeenn it rightt nowww or ellseeee!!!!" Keefe shouted from inside.
"I'm trying!" Tam struggled to push the latch up again.
Its fine. At least I'm still attached to the -
-nevermind, the shield had burnt through my rope.
I waited for a while, but the blackhole drew nearer and nearer.
"Guys, I can try to teleport!" I shouted.
"No!" Keefe said as Tam said, "It's too risky. You could get sucked through the black hole, or worse, you'll fall into endless space. To teleport you would have to jump off the spaceship!"
"SOPHIE ELIZABETH FOSTER, WAIT FOR TAM TO OPEN THE LATCH!" Keefe shrieked.
"I don't know. It activated some sort of trigger when I pulled it. It could take another half and hour, and you can't stay until then, the Black Hole would pull you in it." Tam said, brushing his bangs out of his face.
"WHAT??!" Keefe shrieked again, making it clear he didn't approve of either option.
"I'll teleport." I said, softly, my voice betraying me.
"No, Sophie!! No!" Keefe shrieked again, tearing his hands through his hair.
"I can do this." I said.
"I'm sorry," I said, "But this is our best option."
I walked to the edge of the spaceship, as far away from the blackhole as possible. It was even closer now.
Now or never.
Quite literally.
I jumped off, and-
-nothing.
No rips in the space.
I'm sorry, I transmitted to Keefe.
Then I fell into...
Nothingness.
I saw a rip in the space.
I fell into the living area and my friends voices filled the air surrounding me.
My knees buckled, and I looked out the window.
The last thing I saw before I passed out, was our ship passing safely past the blackhole.
Then I saw a pair of ice blue eyes.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I opened my eyes and was immediately blinded by the white light.
I blinked a couple times to get used to it.
"Sophie!"
"FOSTER!"
Keefe took my hand, and I looked at it.
It had turned ghostly pale.
"Some of you was sucked into the blackhole, but you should be okay. Here, drink this." Dex said, handing me a milky white bottle.
I gulped it down, and watched as the colour slowly returned to my hand.
"Thanks," I said,"Sorry guys, I won't scare you guys to death again."
"You better not, or look forward to matching pink hair with Fitz." Biana said, hugging me fiercly.
"Sorry Sophie," Tam said, avoiding my eye contact," I didn't know it would lock you out..."
"Its okay." I said.
"No, it's not." Keefe said, glaring at Tam.
"Alright, thats enough, she needs her rest." Dex said shooing everyone out.
"No I don't-"
My eyes failed me for the second time today.
