The next day, Braedey was with his father, the two of them driving along over to the Midtown Library. The two of them were in James' police car, since the latter was heading out on patrol, and he thought to drop off Braedey at school.

"Thanks for the ride, Dad." Braedey thanked, then he goes to get the door open. "That saved me a lot of time-"

"Now wait a minute. We need to talk." James said to Braedey, getting the latter's attention.

"Uh, okay. What's wrong, Dad?" Braedey questioned, closing the door behind him as he looks at his father.

"Well, we haven't talked at all for so long, your mother and I don't even know who you are any more. You have all those weird experiments going on in your room. You start fights while at school." James began to say.

"Dad. I didn't start that fight, I told you and Mom that." Braedey pointed out. "Don't you remember?"

"I know. But you sure as hell finished it." James stated bluntly in a matter-of-fact.

"What was I supposed to do, run away or take the punches?" Braedey questioned to his father. "I'm not Cardin's punching bag, Dad. I've dealt with that ever since I started high school."

"No, you're not supposed to run away, but... Braedey, you're changing. I know, I went through exactly the same thing at your age." James sighed as he sat with Braedey in the car. "Braedey... these are the years when a man changes into the man he's going to become for the rest of his life. Just be careful who you change into. This guy, Cardin Winchester, he probably deserved what happened. But just because you can beat him up doesn't give you the right to. Remember what your Uncle Archibald once said..."

"'With great power, comes great responsibility'." Braedey remembered. "I understand, Dad."

"And remember the old line - 'Nihil Hostiam, Nulla Victoriae'." James added in.

"Yeah. Gotcha." Braedey nodded back. "By the way, what does that translate to?" He questioned.

"It means without sacrifice, there can be no victory." James translated to him.

"Right." Braedey nodded softly. "'Nihil Hostiam, Nulla Victoriae'. Thanks for that, Dad." He then gets out of the car. "I'll see you later tonight."

"You take care." James nodded, now seeing his son making his way up into school. He smiled then began to drive off from the school. "Kids... Things change so fast, you don't even see it." He chuckled.

"Attention, units. Got a 459A on Elizabeth Street in Chinatown." The police radio reported in, James immediately getting on the radio. "Any units, please advise."

"30-Adam-40 reporting, moving to intercept." James acknowledged, then gets the siren going before he heads off to Flatbush Avenue Next, so he'll take the Manhattan Bridge to Chinatown.
