"Lord Arlert?"
"Yes?"
"Do you think reincarnation is real?"
His hand stopped scribbling the assignment that he was going to give, blinking at such a question that tumbled down from his student. The son of a Duke, Eren Yeager, who was also his friend for a long time. "Sometimes, I see things that were so real as if I experienced it beforehand."
Almost fifteen years since he befriended this man and about six months after he became his tutor, this was the first time Eren spilt such a bizarre question. One that actually made him swallow a huge lump. Because he also had those, so graphic, and yet felt like a dream every time it arrived in his mind.
"I don't think so," But that wasn't possible. "Reincarnation is just a belief, Eren. I haven't found any concrete evidence that it's real." Not when he tried to find out about it, all the books he read led him nowhere. "And what did I tell you about the way you called me after each session?"
"I know, Armin." Those emerald orbs rolled in annoyance, and he let out a huff after that when his bangs slightly covered his eyes. "Just let me act like I am your most diligent student, wouldn't you?"
"As if." He snorted at the statement he received. "You are indeed my best friend, but no offence, the most diligent student? Really?"
"Since when did you become such an ass?"
"Whoa, language, Eren."
A snort escaped the brunette before it was followed by a laugh. Armin gasped when his friend threw a pen towards him. Harmless, and totally expected from the man. "Listen to me now, how can you become the most diligent student when the King himself asked me to tutor Your Highness?"
"No way!" Well, he couldn't even believe that too, at first. "As if the Princess?"
"Who else? The Prince is currently away."
Armin forgot about the homework that he was supposed to give, too absorbed with the giddiness that coursed through his body, packing his books towards his leather bag instead. "I told you I will be a successful lecturer, remember? But honestly, I still can't believe it. To think that I will serve the Kingdom this soon."
"Their family is a bit private though, you should give me some scope."
"And break their trust? No way, Eren." He only shook his head, patting his friend on the shoulder as he let out a childish whine. For a duke, Eren was much more immature compared to him. "Just focus on your newly bloomed relationship, wouldn't you?"
"Dear lord, I have a date with her in a few minutes!"
"Good luck with that."
"You should help me pick the suit, Armin. This is my first date with her, I can't possibly mess this up—"
"Eren," He was already standing by the door, ready to leave the study when he heard his friend go frantic for a moment there. "It's Mikasa, you know she would love you regardless of how ridiculous your choice of outfit is."
"Oh, yeah. You are right, she's..." There was this blush covering the slightly tanned cheeks of the young duke, and Armin only smiled at that, knowing well Eren was already head over heels for their childhood friend ever since they were just innocent kids. "...wait, hey! My choice of clothing is not ridiculous!"
By the time he finished the sentence, there was no one else in the room. Armin's lips curled into a smirk when he could hear Eren cursing his name as he walked down the hallway. If it wasn't because of his packed schedule, he wouldn't just leave. But since he had to be in the castle in about one hour, he needed to be prepared.
