After what felt like endless days in hell, though time was strange there, Alyssa returned to her quiet room. She hadn't heard from Lucifer or Ramiel since, and honestly, she was grateful.
Lying in bed with her Bible, she read slowly, letting each line settle her mind. She needed this, something real and familiar.
But as the night went on, her thoughts drifted back to her dinner with Lucifer in hell. She remembered the way he'd looked at her, the intensity in his eyes. Almost without thinking, she touched her fingers to her lips, the memory of his kiss lingering like an echo she couldn't shake.
As Alyssa lay in bed, lost in her thoughts, a soft knock at her window startled her. She looked over, surprised to see Ramiel standing there, his expression unusually gentle. Opening the window, she let him in.
"Alyssa," he began, his voice low. "I just wanted to check on you. I know... visiting hell couldn't have been easy."
She gave a small nod, clutching her Bible a little tighter. "I'm... okay, I think. It's just... a lot to take in."
Ramiel offered her a reassuring smile. But after a brief pause, Alyssa couldn't help asking, "What happened to Lucifer?"
Ramiel's face grew serious, and he was silent for a moment before finally answering. "Right now, he's... having a 'sit-down' with my brother. Well, his brother, too."
Alyssa's eyes widened. "You mean Michael? The archangel?"
Ramiel nodded, a hint of tension in his gaze. "Yes. Michael doesn't take lightly to mortals being brought to hell." He hesitated, glancing at her with quiet concern. "He'll try to reason with him... though whether Lucifer will listen is another matter entirely."
Yeah, I know he's stubborn," Alyssa replied with a hint of a smile. "But... they won't fight, right?"
Ramiel chuckled, shaking his head. "Don't worry. Lucifer knows he can't take Michael on in a fight. He might be bold, but he's not foolish enough to test Michael's strength."
Alyssa let out a small sigh of relief. "Good. I don't think I could handle any more chaos."
Ramiel gave her a reassuring smile. "You've already handled more than most could. Just... try to rest. If Lucifer does anything reckless, you'll be the first to know."
Alyssa nodded, lying back down and pulling the blanket up around her. "Well, good night, Ramiel."
Ramiel gave her a gentle nod. "Good night, Alyssa." With that, he stepped back, and in an instant, he vanished, leaving nothing but a faint shimmer where he'd stood.
Alyssa stared at the spot for a moment, a mix of relief and uncertainty lingering in her mind. She closed her eyes, hoping that, for tonight at least, her dreams would bring her peace.
