Lucifer leaned back, his legs kicked up on the gleaming table as he lounged comfortably in the celestial plane, a place he hadn't visited in ages. Across from him sat Michael, his expression stern, arms crossed tightly as he regarded his younger brother with a simmering intensity.
"Do you realize the gravity of what you've done, Lucifer?" Michael's voice was calm, but the controlled fury in it was unmistakable. "Bringing a mortal—a living mortal—into hell is not only reckless; it's forbidden. You've broken a sacred boundary."
Lucifer gave a nonchalant shrug, glancing off to the side. "I thought you'd admire my initiative, brother. I only wanted to show her the truth. Humans love clarity, don't they?"
Michael's scowl deepened. "This isn't about truth or clarity. You've risked her life and corrupted boundaries that have held for centuries. The mortal world and hell are not your playground, Lucifer."
Lucifer dropped his legs from the table and leaned forward, an amused smirk tugging at his lips. "Is that a warning, Michael? Or something more?"
"It's a reminder," Michael replied, his voice unwavering. "No matter your motives, there are laws even you cannot twist without consequences."
Lucifer leaned forward, his gaze meeting Michael's with an unflinching intensity. "And what consequences would that be, brother?" he challenged, his voice dripping with sarcasm. "Or have you forgotten that our dear Father already damned me to an eternity in hell?"
Michael's expression remained resolute, but there was a flicker of something in his eyes—pity, perhaps, or frustration. "This isn't about your sentence, Lucifer. It's about you bending the rules, testing limits. You know well the danger of bringing a mortal soul into your realm. You risked her life, her soul."
Lucifer scoffed, crossing his arms as he leaned back. "I gave her a glimpse, Michael. I didn't harm her."
Michael's voice hardened. "You know that's not the point. You've overstepped, again. And whether you want to admit it or not, you're risking more than just her safety."
Lucifer's smirk faltered for a fraction of a second, his gaze flickering before he quickly masked it. "So what now, Michael? Another lecture on redemption and consequences?"
Michael's stare was steady. "No lecture. But consider this a warning. Keep your distance from her, or face the wrath of those you've defied before. I'm here as a reminder, Lucifer. Don't push your luck."
The two brothers locked eyes, neither willing to back down, the weight of their ancient rivalry filling the silence between them.
Lucifer rolled his eyes, leaning back with a smirk. "You know as well as I do, Michael, that I'll do what I want. And neither you nor any of our holier-than-thou siblings can stop me."
Michael's jaw tightened, a hint of frustration flashing in his eyes. "It's that very arrogance that got you where you are, Lucifer. Don't let it blind you again."
Lucifer chuckled, folding his arms. "Blind me? I see things more clearly than all of you. I make my own choices—unlike you, still clinging to Father's every word."
Michael remained calm, undeterred. "Believe what you want, but understand this: you're not untouchable. You've already risked her soul, and we won't let you go further down this path without consequence."
Lucifer's smirk didn't waver, but there was a glint of something darker in his gaze. "Then try, Michael. Let's see just how far you're willing to go.
Lucifer's smirk faltered as Michael took a step forward, his face set with a determination that bordered on fury. The celestial air between them crackled with tension as Michael's hand moved to the hilt of his sword—a weapon radiating pure light.
Lucifer raised an eyebrow, his voice mocking. "What, going to smite me again, Michael? Afraid a little truth might unsettle that righteous heart of yours?"
But before he could react, Michael moved with a speed that Lucifer rarely saw coming. In a flash of divine energy, Michael's blade slashed across Lucifer's shoulder, sending him staggering back, grimacing as the pain seared through him.
"You've already gone too far, Lucifer," Michael said, his voice calm but deadly. "Bringing a living mortal into hell isn't just reckless—it's selfish. And you're risking far more than her fate alone."
Lucifer clutched his injured shoulder, anger flashing in his eyes. "You always did think you were the family's enforcer," he sneered, breathing heavily. "But you're wrong. I'm not the reckless one here—you're the one who just brought a weapon into a conversation."
Michael took another step closer, his gaze steely. "Understand this, brother. If you bring her down again, if you push this any further, you'll answer for it."
Lucifer met his brother's glare, fighting through the pain, and slowly straightened. "Threaten all you like, Michael. But I make my own rules."
With one last bitter look, Lucifer turned away, opening a portal back to the mortal realm The light of Michael's blade still burned in his shoulder as he stepped through, but he ignored it, vanishing back to the mortal realm with a defiant, cold smile.
