Story and Gracie moved around the loft with a shared energy, tossing clothes, toiletries, and last-minute essentials into suitcases that were already packed to the brim. Story zipped her bag shut and flopped onto her bed with a sigh, while Gracie laughed, nudging her with her foot.

"Don't get too comfy," Gracie teased, "we've still got this place to clean, remember?"

Story groaned but pushed herself up with a grin. "Fine, but only because you're helping," she said, turning to her Alexa on the nightstand. "Let's set the mood— Alexa! Music, please."

Moments later, Billie Eilish's haunting voice filled the room, her melody drifting through the loft. They started folding blankets and fluffing pillows, gathering laundry and wiping down counters. Their voices blended with Billie's as they sang along, pausing only to exchange smiles or dramatic gestures during their favorite lines.

Story's phone buzzed on the counter, drawing her attention. It was a call from her mom, Laurel.

"Hey, Mom!" Story answered, a smile pulling at her lips as she straightened up, glancing over at Gracie who was busy folding clothes.

"Hey, sweetie! How are you? I just saw that Vanity Fair wants to have an interview with you," her mom's voice came through, filled with warmth and a hint of excitement. "Would you be able to clear your schedule for the next 4 days?"

Story's grin widened as she leaned against the counter, folding another shirt. "Actually, yes! I saw the email, and I've already booked my flight. I'm leaving tomorrow with Gracie. We're flying out to LA for the interview, and then I'll stick around for 2 weeks days to hang out."

Laurel's voice softened, a mixture of pride and surprise. "Wait, tomorrow? Wow, that was quick! But I'm so proud of you, sweetie. You're really handling all of this so well."

"I know," Story replied, a small laugh escaping her. "It's all happening so fast. But I'm excited, and I've got Gracie with me, so it'll be okay."

"That's good," Laurel said, her tone light but serious. "I'm glad you have someone with you. Just remember to stay focused, alright? I know you're excited, but don't get too caught up in everything. Stay grounded, especially in those interviews."

Story's smile softened, her mom's words always bringing a sense of calm. "I will, Mom. I promise. It's a lot, but I'm trying to keep it in perspective."

"Good," Laurel said firmly. "And when you're in the interview, just be yourself. You don't have to reveal everything. If they ask about your upcoming projects, tease Short and Sweet, but don't give too much away. You've got control here, sweetheart."

"I'll be careful," Story reassured her. "Thanks, Mom. I really needed that reminder."

"I'm always here to remind you of the important things," Laurel said with a chuckle. "You've worked so hard for this, Story. It's your time to shine. Just take it one step at a time and breathe."

"I will, I will," Story said, feeling the pressure ease off her shoulders with each word. "I love you, Mom."

"I love you too, darling. Hold on a second, okay? The twins want to say goodbye."

Story raised an eyebrow, surprised but pleased. "Okay, sure."

There was a soft rustling on the other end of the line before her mom's voice returned. "Alright, they're here. Say hi to Story!"

Kai's voice came through first, high-pitched and full of excitement. "Hi, Story! I want you to bring me a toy from LA!"

Noa's voice followed, her words more careful but still full of enthusiasm. "Bring me a Barbie, Story! A pretty one!"
