A few days had passed since the interview, and Story was loving every second of her time in LA. Gracie had been the best tour guide, showing her around all of her favorite spots. They spent a day exploring the bustling streets of Downtown LA, popping into quirky shops, enjoying delicious street food, and grabbing coffee at Gracie's go-to café. They even treated themselves to a luxurious lunch at Nobu, savoring every bite of sushi as they laughed and chatted about everything and nothing.
But as much as they had enjoyed the city, there was something about being back at Gracie's apartment that felt even better. One afternoon, with the sun streaming through the windows of Gracie's apartment, the two of them were lounging on the couch, snacks scattered on the coffee table in front of them, when Story's phone pinged. She looked down to see an email notification that made her heart skip a beat.
The subject line read: Your Vanity Fair Interview is Live.
"Gracie!" Story exclaimed, her voice bubbling with excitement. "It's here!"
Gracie grinned, her eyes wide. "No way! You ready to watch it?"
Story nodded, her pulse quickening as she clicked on the email. They both scrambled to set up the laptop, and within moments, the Vanity Fair video was playing on the screen.
As the interview started, Story and Gracie immediately got comfortable, popping popcorn and curling up on the couch together. They watched with bated breath as the video played—seeing Story's nervous but excited expression, the way she'd shyly smiled when talking about Billie Eilish, and the moments when Gracie joined her on camera. It felt surreal to see herself on the screen, but it was also oddly comforting, especially with Gracie by her side.
They laughed at the funny moments and cringed at some of the awkward pauses. But through it all, the joy of seeing her journey unfold on-screen filled Story with pride. Once the video ended, they both let out a cheer.
"That was so good!" Gracie said, grinning from ear to ear. "You were amazing, Story."
Story beamed, her cheeks flushed. "I can't believe it's really out there."
As if on cue, her phone buzzed again. And then again. And again.
Gracie peered over at her phone screen. "Damn, you're getting a lot of notifications."
Story picked up her phone, scrolling through the endless stream of messages, notifications, and follows. Her heart raced as she noticed a pattern with some of her new followers. BillieEilishFan95, BillieLover123, OceanEyesFan, BillieAndStory—the usernames all seemed to have one thing in common: they were all Billie fans.
"Gracie," Story said, her voice a mix of excitement and disbelief. "Look at this! I'm getting all these follows from Billie's fans."
Gracie leaned over, her eyes scanning the screen. "Whoa, I see it. They're all saying how they're so excited you're a Billie fan!"
Story's mind was racing. "I had no idea this would happen. It's so crazy."
Gracie grinned. "I mean, it makes sense, right? They've all been watching the interview, and they're like, 'Hey, she's one of us!'"
As they scrolled through comments on the Vanity Fair video, they noticed something else: a flood of messages asking if Story and Billie would ever meet. It seemed like every other comment was along the lines of, Story and Billie need to meet or When will Story and Billie finally meet in person?
"This is wild," Story laughed, reading one of the comments aloud. "People are literally saying we have to meet."
Gracie chuckled, shaking her head. "Well, we can't blame them. I mean, who wouldn't want to see you two together?"
