The hum of the engine lulled the night into a false sense of calm as Taehyung’s car cut through the city streets, casting fleeting shadows from the skyscrapers above. Jungkook lay slumped in the passenger seat, carefully keeping his breathing shallow, his eyelids fluttering just enough to mimic exhaustion. He could feel Taehyung’s gaze flicker over to him every so often, lingering as though to reassure himself that Jungkook was truly there, safe in his care.

Inside, Jungkook stifled a smirk, controlling every inch of his facade. Every detail of this plan had been meticulously calculated. The rush to Taehyung's side, the orchestrated "attack," and now, the flawless act of a frightened victim—all designed to position himself closer to the heart of Jinhee’s world. Tonight was the breakthrough he had been patiently setting in motion for weeks.

The car’s headlights illuminated the facade of an imposing high-rise as they rolled to a stop in front of a sleek, towering building with mirrored glass and polished stone. Jungkook noted the subtle signs of high-end security: guards stationed at discreet posts, the gleam of hidden surveillance lenses, and the sophisticated fingerprint scanners at the main entrance. Jinhee’s luxury penthouse awaited him within, and this fortress of opulence would be the foundation of his plan.

Taehyung stepped out swiftly and made his way to Jungkook’s side, reaching into the car to lift him gently. He scooped Jungkook up, his arms strong but surprisingly careful, as though handling something fragile. Jungkook let his head fall slightly against Taehyung’s shoulder, masking his watchful gaze under the guise of weariness.

“Don’t worry, Jungkook,” Taehyung whispered, his voice low and filled with a protective tenderness. “You’re safe now. I won’t let anyone hurt you.”

Jungkook’s heart quickened, but not for the reasons Taehyung might have thought. It was almost laughable—Taehyung, Jinhee’s loyal ally, had no inkling that the same person he was carrying so gently was already plotting the demise of everything he stood for. Every step closer to Jinhee’s world brought Jungkook closer to his true mission: to infiltrate, manipulate, and ultimately dismantle the empire that had wronged him.

Inside, the lobby was a masterpiece of modern luxury. The walls were adorned with minimalist art, and polished floors reflected soft lighting that gave the space an ethereal glow. As Taehyung walked through, Jungkook observed through barely opened eyes, catching glimpses of the place’s strategic design—a perfect blend of beauty and security. He took in everything, from the cameras subtly embedded in the ceiling to the armed guard at the far end of the lobby, all while playing the part of someone blissfully unaware.

Once in the elevator, Taehyung cradled Jungkook a little closer, his face softening in a way Jungkook had rarely seen. "This building’s safe. You’ll never have to worry about anyone getting to you here." He was almost talking to himself, as though convincing himself more than Jungkook.

The elevator chimed softly, and the doors slid open to reveal the entrance to Jinhee’s penthouse—a place drenched in opulence and design. Taehyung entered a passcode into the door’s keypad, and the security system clicked open with a quiet but firm beep. Jungkook noted the code pattern, imprinting it in his memory.
