I sat in the living room, munching on a bowl of fruity loops mixed with lucky charms , While The TV played softly in the background.
After months I've finally caught up in one piece and now I'm sad I did .
Hearing the door open I got up to check seeing mom and dad coming in looking exhausted, especially mom.
"Hey, sweetie!" Dad said, smiling and kissing my cheek .
Smiling at him I look back at mom , our relationship is still rocky but it's always took this long to make up with her . However I don't like it that she looks sick .
"You ok mom?"
"Yes I am just feeling tired so I'm going to lie down," after saying that she gave me a small smile, heading to their bedroom.
Dad eyes followed her with a concerned glance, then turned to me.
"Khyra, come here," Dad said, opening his arms.
I put down my cereal aside and walked into his warm hug.
"What's going on, khy khy ?" Dad asked, his voice gentle.
I took a deep breath, unsure where to start.
We walked towards the couch and sat with me still in his arms .
"Umm so this guy I'm seeing he and I had a thing today," I said, my voice barely above a whisper.
Dad's expression turned serious, but he didn't interrupt.
"Tell me everything," Dad said, his eyes encouraging.
I recounted the events, leaving out some details.
Waiiii
Cwa mek him know bout alla the sexual parts
Especially Inna the store -
Dad listened attentively, his face growing concerned.
When I finished, Dad took a deep breath.
"Khyra, communication fixes everything. Hear him out, then think about your next move. Not saying you should forgive him but he may have a explanation and even if he doesn't it'll give you closure "
Dad's words echoed in my mind.
Maybe he was right.
Maybe I should listen to Zaheer's side of the story.
But what if he hurt me again?
What if he doesn't have a actual reason
Dad seemed to sense my uncertainty.
"I'm here for you, kiddo. Whatever you decide, I'll support you. Always"
Dad's words comforted me, and I felt a sense of relief.
