ZIMORA FURROWED HER eyebrows and let out a shaky, breathy laugh. "Hey, Z." She whispered, raising her head up to look at him when he approached her slowly. He let out a gentle scoff and turned to look at her daughter whose eyes started to well up with tears. "Don't be mad at her, it was time that I came to see you anyway."
"Nah." Jasper spoke up, making all of them turn to him. His jaw clenched and he shook his head, especially when he saw King's eyes well up too. Just like Zaina, he didn't know too much about Zimora but he knew that she broke his father's heart and just off of that alone, he wanted nothing to do with her.
Unlike his little sister though, Jas didn't know the full story and he didn't want to. Once you hurt the people he loved, it was fuck you for the rest of eternity and that's exactly what he was feeling in this moment. "You don't get to walk in here expecting some sort of happy family reunion. You don't get to infiltrate their lives again because you decided to be woman enough to face the music. You don't deserve either one of them and-"
"Jasper." Zimora gave him a small smile. "You look just like your mother, she'd be so happy to see how her little boy turned out."
His face fell and he looked at King who looked away from him. "How do you know my mother?" He questioned, stepping forward until Zakai cleared his throat, making him stop in his tracks.
"She was my best friend, I knew her before you did." Zi spoke, "Not only do I have to explain myself to Zantos... but you need to be here for it too. Zaina doesn't go anywhere without you and judging by how that one moves when you do, he can stay too." She gestured to Zakai who was right behind Jasper, staring blankly at the entire family.
"I don't have anything to say to you, neither does King. The answer is no, you can go now." Jas said firmly, standing his ground.
"Jazzy, it, it isn't like that." Zai protested, coming to Zimora's defense. "I thought it was too but... you don't understand, she, she has proof, it isn't what we think. Can you and daddy give her a chance? Please." She pleaded. "Do it for me, I need you two to."
The men glanced at each other and poked their cheeks with their tongues, huffing before nodding their heads. "Anything for you, Lia." They muttered in unison.
