Later that afternoon, after some time spent with Ava watching her favorite cartoons and enjoying her ice cream breakfast, Alastor and Lucifer decided it was time to have a little conversation with her about the evening ahead. They both knew Ava had been through a lot recently, and they wanted to make sure she was comfortable with the plan before it happened.
Alastor sat down beside her on the couch, his demeanor soft and gentle. Lucifer stood behind them, his arms crossed but his expression warm. Ava looked up at them, her bunny toy clutched tightly in her hands, as she continued watching the TV.
"Hey, sweetie," Alastor began, his voice tender. "So, we were thinking... tonight, Daddy and I are going to go on a little date, just the two of us."
Ava's eyes widened slightly, her small face scrunching in thought. "A date?" she asked quietly, her tone unsure.
Lucifer leaned down, crouching so that he was eye level with her. "Yep, a date," he said with a soft smile. "That means we're going to go out for a little while, just the two of us. We'll still be right here when we get back, though. But while we're gone, Angel and Husk are going to stay here with you and keep you company, alright?"
Ava looked over at the door, as if trying to process everything. "But... are you leaving for a long time?"
Alastor reached out and gently placed his hand on her shoulder. "Not too long, darling. Just a few hours. And if you need anything, you can always talk to Angel or Husk. You know they'll take good care of you."
Ava seemed to think for a moment, her brow furrowed. "I don't want you to be gone forever," she whispered, her voice laced with a bit of worry.
Lucifer chuckled softly, ruffling her hair. "Don't worry, we won't be gone forever. We're always coming back home to you."
Alastor gave a small nod, his voice reassuring. "We're just going to have some time together, so we can be even better parents for you when we get back. Do you think you can do that, sweetheart? Have some fun with Angel and Husk while we're out?"
Ava hesitated for a moment, glancing back at the TV, and then slowly nodded. "Okay... I'll be okay."
Lucifer smiled warmly. "That's my girl." He stood up and stretched, looking over at Alastor. "Now, how about we make sure everything's ready for when Angel gets home? We'll all get ready for a fun night together."
Ava smiled faintly, her grip on Bunny loosening a little as she felt reassured by their words. "Okay... have fun on your date, Daddy."
With that, Alastor and Lucifer exchanged a relieved look before heading to the kitchen to finalize their plans for the night. While Ava settled in with her cartoons, the two of them took a moment to prepare for their little break, knowing that Ava would be in good hands with Angel and Husk watching over her.
As the door swung open, the sound of footsteps echoed through the lobby, and Ava perked up, her bunny toy still nestled in her arms. Angel, ever full of energy, burst into the room, his eyes lighting up as soon as he spotted her.
"Ava!" he called out with a grin, immediately dropping his things in the hallway. Before she could react, he scooped her up in his arms and spun her around, laughing as he did. "I missed you so much! I've been thinkin' about all the fun we're gonna have tonight!"
Ava giggled, her little hands clutching tightly to her bunny as she spun with him. "What are we gonna do?" she asked, her excitement growing.
Angel's face lit up as he set her down, grinning widely. "Well, I was thinking we could start with a movie marathon, and then maybe make some popcorn—oh! And then we can have a pillow fight, and I'll let you win, promise!" He was practically bouncing with enthusiasm. "It's gonna be *so* much fun!"
