Two and a half months later

It was Isahaq's birthday. Zamar and Isahaq's mother had gone to visit him in Australia for the occasion. Maha had overheard her mother, Asha talking to Maria aunty on the phone, saying how Isahaq was still settling in. The workload was a nightmare but he had made some good friends among his colleagues. Although he missed home, the bustling environment of Sydney was a positive change.

Maha was waging a battle inside her mind, torn between wanting to send Isahaq a gift and wondering if sending a parcel all the way to another continent would seem too excessive or not.

She had already sent him a birthday text to which he had replied enthusiastically. But she felt like she wanted to do something more.

Before she could overthink this situation any more, she pressed send to the text she had been typing to Zamar, asking him if he could buy something for Isahaq as a gift from her.

Zamar:
Of course! I'm always at y'all’s service. Plus this would make Isa’s day.

Maha:
Thanks…and I'll pay you back when you return to Bangladesh.

Zamar:
Oh no no. I'm not taking any money from you.

Maha:
It's a gift from me. It won't be right if you pay for it.

Zamar:
Okay you can let me name your firstborn as a payment

Maha:
What the - you know what, nevermind. Don't bother

Zamar:
Just kidding Mahaha! Okay at least let me set your wedding menu? :D

Maha:
It's pointless talking to you.

Zamar:
Ouch, my Dil toots.

Maha:
Seriously though, what can I even give as a gift?

Zamar:
Maybe some home decor material? Consider it as a future investment (;

Maha:
I shouldn't have asked you for help -

Zamar:
Okay I'll be serious now. I'll give the home decor gift for your future home. You can give him the birthday cake maybe? We haven't bought that yet.

Maha:
Ignoring all your previous nonsense, yes that would be nice.

Zamar replied back a while later with the picture of a beautiful red velvet cake.
