Sonic walked down the street carrying a bag of groceries. He was running low on some stuff and went out to get a few things. Suddenly, he heard a cry for help.

He dropped the bags almost instantly and raced to see where it had come from. He was met with one of Eggman's mechs holding a little girl. "Help!" she cried again.

"Alright Egghead, I don't know what you're up to this time but you'd better put her down," Sonic commanded. "Ho ho ho! Why if you want her you'll have to come get her!" Eggman's voice spoke over the speakers.

The head and arms of the mech detached revealing something similar to his Egg Mobile. He flew away and the hedgehog raced after him.

He followed him out to a clearing near a cliff. He's trying to lure me closer so I'll fall, he thought. The Egg Mobile floated above the empty drop and held out its hand. "Now say bye-bye!" Eggman spoke. "No!" Sonic cried as the hand released the little girl.

Suddenly, there was a flash of light and Shadow appeared, catching the girl. Sonic heaved a sigh of relief, "Nice of you to drop in Shads!" He nodded setting the girl back down on the ground.

The two hedgehogs angrily turned to the doctor. Eggman gulped, knowing his plan had failed, and within a few seconds, the two spin dashed him together, sending him flying.

Suddenly the little girl raced up to Shadow hugging his leg.

Shadow's POV:

Shadow looked down at the little girl. It wasn't often that people, much less children, were this comfortable with him. He gave her a small pat on the head, attempting to comfort her.

"Thank you for saving me, mister. I was so scared," she thanked him."I'm just glad you're alright. Do you know where your parents are?" he asked gently. She nodded.

She motioned with her hands for him to pick her up and he did so. "They are at my grandmother's house in the woods."

The two hedgehogs made their way to the woods. Sonic shot Shadow smirks about his sudden softness with the little girl the whole way.

They stopped at a Cabin and knocked on the door."Hello, how may I-" the woman stopped, "My baby! Oh, thank you!" She took the girl from his arms and hugged her tightly.

They said goodbye to the two and they began to make their way back to town. Suddenly, Shadow began to feel drops of rain on his muzzle and soon the two were drenched.

"This way," Sonic said, grabbing his wrist and pulling him into a small cave. Shadow sat down and Sonic shook his quills making them puff up. Shadow couldn't help but chuckle at the sight. Sonic rolled his eyes and sat down next to him.

Shadow felt funny sitting in the damp dark cave, stuck with none other than Sonic.

"It doesn't look like the rain is going to stop anytime soon," Sonic commented. He nodded in agreement.

Of course, he had to be stranded with him for the night.
