Chapter 4

August 14
I woke up around 11:30 in the morning. The house was quite. I stand up and went to the bathroom to wash my face. I head to the kitchen and see a post it note on the fridge from my cousins saying that they went to the market to grab some groceries and essentials.
I started making some tea and grabbed my phone just to scroll through instagram. Suddenly I see a text from Lando:
Lando:
"Hey I'll come and pick you up around 13:00!"
Artemis
"Ok ☺️"
Lando
"Don't be late cause the restaurant is half and hour away 👀"
Artemis
"Sir yes sir 🫡"
I decided to wear something casual but pretty at the same time so I wore a medium height dress in the colour of blue and a pair of sandals.

I was ready at 12:45 and was just waiting for Lando to pick me up. After 10 minutes Lando texted me that he was out.
I saw him waiting inside the jeep while listening to some music. I jumped in.
"Hey!" I say to him
"Hey! You look lovely" Lando said while he leaned forward for a hug.
"Thank you! So shall we?" I said
"Yeah" he said and started the engine of the car.
The car ride was beautiful. The wind was blowing our hair and we sang every song that we knew from the radio.
We arrived at the restaurant and the waiter sat us down to our table.
"So what do you having?" I asked Lando
"Everything else except fish" he said
"Why Lando? Fish is very good for your health, us Mediterraneans we try to eat it often especially in the summertime" I tell him
"There's no way that I'll try fish even if it was the last meal on earth" he says
"Haha ok then I'll not push you to try it" I say to him
So we ended up having a salad, Lando a steak with oven potatoes and for me pasta with red sauce and mushrooms. We didn't want any dessert so we headed off for another car ride.
"The food was nice" I say to Lando
"Yeah it was tasty" Lando said. "I think I saw at the gps a beach 20 minutes from here, do you wanna go there and stay a bit?"
"Yeah sure, I'll always like to stare at the waves and I'll enjoy it better with good company" I say and smiled at him
"I am glad that you like my company lady Diana" he said
We arrived at the beach and took a walk by the water.
"So what is your plan for the rest of the summer?" Lando asked
"Um probably I'll stay home and try to concentrate for the months to come"
"And what do those months have that you have to prepare?" Lando asked
"I try to write another children's book about music and schedule my students lessons for the year. And of course the kids choir that starts in October too. I don't want to think about it right now because I get anxious...what are your plans for the rest of your vacation?"
"These are the rest of them for summer I think, but I'll see what the future holds" Lando says
"So how many races do you got in your calendar for these season?" I asked
"10 more races" he answered
"Cool" I said.
"Do you want to come to my next race?" Lando asked all of a sudden
"Wow that was bold" I said while laughing awkwardly. "I don't know Lando, I need to figure out something first"
"Like what?" He asked
"Look, we are having fun, we are enjoying each other's company and all for the past few days, but I gotta ask, what are WE doing Lando?" I say to him.. I didn't know that I can be that brave to ask that question.
"I am trying to learn more things about you cause I fancy you Artemis." He says all of a sudden "I thought that you were already figured it out by now" he adds.
"Well I did, but I didn't want to get any false signals and hope about something, and that turning to be something completely different. Look, I like you a lot and I want to learn more about you and hanging out with you more, but our time is almost over, you are leaving in like 2 days and I don't want that to be a summer flirt. Because I don't do summer flirts anymore Lando, I am 26 and I wanna have fun but build real relationships even though that one might someday doesn't work. But I really want to know you more not because you are famous or you drive a fast car, I want to know the real you." Those words came out of my mind like a waterfall and I couldn't stop myself.
"I am glad that we are at the same place" he says
"I am sorry but after I said all these, you are just gonna say *I am glad that we are at the same place?!* (making fun of landosvoice) "
"And what do you want me to say?" He asked
"I don't know Lando I am not you, I'm just be trying to figure you out, if you haven't figure out yourself, then we've got a problem."
As I was finishing my phrase Lando came closer to me, closer to the point that our lips were almost touching and I could feel his breath on my face.
"What are you doing?" I said in a whisper.
"Showing you how glad I am that we are in the same place." He said and after that he placed his hand on my cheek and kissed me. The kiss didn't lasted long but it was soft. We parted for a second only to bring his lips back in mine. That kiss was rougher that the first one. I could feel that he wanted more, our tongues started playing with each other and I couldn't stop myself. But someone had to and it had to be me.
"Why did you stop?" He asked
"Cause it's too early for anything else" I answered
"Mm fiine, but I want to kiss you more" he says
"You can as long as you can stop yourself" I say
He kissed be again softly and we sat down on the sand.
He hugged me from behind and I liked this feeling of safety from that. We were watching the waves and the sun and we talked about other staff like what's your favorite movie, or place that you've been, or about our families.
"Please come to the race with me next week!" He said while he was playing with my hair
"I don't know, I have to see my budget, cause I need to pay about the aeroplane tickets, where am I going to stay, and the formula 1 tickets too " I said to him
"No let me take care of that, just come" he says
"No Lando, my parents raised me to be independent, I'll come if I can afford to do the trip" I said to him
"What if I have 3 passes for you and your cousins so you don't have to worry about those tickets, they always gives us passes for our friends and family" he suggests
"That wouldn't be a bad idea, but I don't want any cameras near me, and what if they spots us together on the grid? I don't want any tabloids start talking about me and then my family sees it.." I say
"The boys will be there too and you don't have to sit in the garage just be up at the vip lounge where the rest of the people are and watch the race, and when it's finished we will meet." He answered
"You seem to me that you always have a solution for everything mister Norris" I say and laught
"Well I want you to be near me as much as I could ,and know you more" he says
"Well, I'll ask my cousins and if the say yes we will come" I say to him
"And if they say no?"
"Then you will see me in Italy, I know that the aeroplanes tickets and the Airbnb are much cheaper there than in Netherlands" I answered
"But that will be in 2 weeks!" He complains
"I know but if you like me as much as you say you do you'll be patient, in the meantime we could text and video call each other if you want"
" ok I'll wait I guess" he says defeated
"You know what they say, the wait makes the heart grow fonder" I say while laughing and running away from him
"Why are you running?"
"I'm practicing the distance"
"Haha very funny Artemis" he says and stands up trying to chase me. And of course he is faster than me and caught me. He hugs me and put both of his hands to my cheeks and kisses me again.
"I thinks it's time to head off." I say while I was laying my head to his shoulder
"Ok, cause I guess your cousins need a debrief from you and my boys need to mess with me" he jokingly says
"Wow you're something else" I said while laughing and came closer to kiss him again.
In the way home he was holding my hand and looking at me from times to times.
"Can you please look on the road and not at me?" I asked him
"I can't the view is too beautiful from this side" he says
"Oh stop it, please I want us to be safe" I say to him while I touched his hand. He laughed and continued driving.
We arrived at the Airbnb and he got out of the car and opens the car door for me.
"Such a gentleman" I tell him
"Always for you" he says
He lowers his head and kissed me goodbye.
"I had fun today" I tell him
"I'm glad that you did, it was fun for me too, I'm happy that I got to know you a little bit more today and spent sometime alone." He adds
"Yeah I liked that too, maybe we could repeat that someday.."I left the window open so he can ask me out again
"What about tomorrow night? We can all go to the beach tomorrow and then the others can grab dinner by themselves and we can go for another date and maybe meet them after"
"That's sounds good to me" I say "text me when you get to your hotel please"
"I will, ok goodnight lady Diana" he says to me
"Goodnight Lando"
