Chapter 5: Trolloc Attack

I talked to my parents to inform them of my time in the white tower, the political aspects that have changed, and some aspects that we must attend. Without talking about my mission to find the dragon reborn with Moiraine. I informed them that I had finally taken a warder and that it was none other than Lucian. To say they were ecstatic, to say the least, my parents have always trusted and cared for him.  

Once I finished catching up with my parents, Lucian and I were in my chambers and I was discussing with him about the prophecy foretold at the white tower and that Moiraine and I are charged to find the dragon reborn to secure the safety of all. 

"I need to see if any of my connections have any information about any young ones that can control the one power," I say, Lucian must have sensed how stressed I was because he put his hand on top of mine and said " We'll look into it, and when we find something we will inform Moiraine so that we can explore if any option is worth investigating it in person, don't worry. Right now we have to see about the upcoming feast of thanksgiving, since it only happens once every four years at the spring equinox the people expect a lot".

"Fine let's go see if there are any preparations that are still necessary for tonight," I say as I start heading to the great hall.

I enter the great hall and I see chaos, everybody is running around, and there are decorations spread all around the floors. As the doorman announces my arrival everybody stops running and bows, 

"Will someone please tell me what is happening? What is all this mess? The festival is tonight and I fear we have nothing done" I say loudly. 

One of my ladies-in-waiting approaches me  " Princess I'm so sorry but we have nothing done, the decorations have yet to be put up all over the city and the city square where the feast will be held also does not have anything prepared, And the cook needs more hand down in the kitchen to be able to prepare enough food but with nothing done, we cannot give him more people" she says with her head down. 

I lift her chin " Do not worry I'll see what I can do"I say 

" I need everybody's attention if there is to be a feast tonight I need for everybody to listen, we will have to divide and conquer, I need for everybody here to divide into three groups please," I say 

Instantly I hear the shuffling of shoes on the hardwood floor, once I see that there are three groups in front of me I continue. 

"Ok now one group will head down to the kitchen to help cook the feast, for without it there will be no Thanksgiving, the second group will take what is necessary from this room and head to the city square and set up what is needed there. As for the third group, you will hang decorations throughout the city" I say 

" Yes princess," my lady-in-waiting says. And every single person rushes to do as they were tasked. 

With that I turn to Cassian with a smirk on my face " See problem solved, now you and I have to go to the City Square to make sure it is presentable, and hopefully, with some luck, we will have the feast of Thanksgiving at sunset just as planned" I say

Lucian and I are at the City Square making sure that everything is ready, when suddenly I feel Lucians' worry. I turn to him," Is everything ok? " I say 

"No I have a feeling a dark one is near," he says 

"Come let's go to the castle we have to see if the wall is still intact," I say. The wall is what separates us from the dark forest that is crawling with shadow spawns, trollocs, and other corrupted creatures. 

We both rush until we have the wall in our line of site. I see torches in the distance, less than half an hour away. "QUICK SOUND THE ALARM, WE ARE UNDER ATTACK!!!" I say to one of the guards. 

Instantly I hear the ringing of bells, and as soon as they sound everybody jumps into action. Women and children are running for cover inside while the men and soldiers are readying their weapons, putting on their armor, and closing the gates to the inner part of the city as a defense for the families inside " What are they doing, they never come this way, they have steered clear of the wall for decades," Lucian says 

"Things are changing Lucian, the world is changing, " I say. "Come I can't just stand here and let my people die. " I say as I run to the front entrance of the city. 

"Liana are you sure about this, You are not just an Aei Sedai, you are also our future Queen if something happened to you what would they do," Lucian said

"I know, my situation is not the same as my sisters but what kind of queen would I be if I don't stand by my values, my morals, my beliefs" I say 

"Let's do this then, " He says, and I feel his confidence in me, his bravery. It only encourages me further. As I turn forward I start to see the trollocs running towards us, there must be hundreds of them. 

" I guess today the rumors about if one Aei Sedai can turn a battle will be answered," I say with a small smile on my face. 

"I have no sought that it will be true," he says. 

I start to breathe and feel the energy flow around me, the one power, I start to conjure lighting, and once the first trollocs are in range I aim and kill the first wave, between me and Lucian, we are killing trolloc after trolloc, while my warriors kill off the ones that pass through the gaps that we leave. We worked in sync, one after another, there were too many, and they were overwhelming us. When I feel a scythe pierce my abdomen.

I let out near piercing scream, Lucian was at my side in an instant feeling my pain. He pulls out the weapon and applies pressure on the wound. As I see my surroundings I see my people, they formed a circle around us to protect me. I can't let them die for me, is the only thing that is running through my head. I look Lucian in the eye. He hesitates but he lets me go and continues fighting understanding that I want, no, need to keep fighting. 

"Light give me strength," I say I use the last bit of energy that I have and send a wave of fire a the trollocs, all you hear are the shrieks of the burning trollocs. I use the one power to throw the rocks from the wall at the last remaining trollocs, as a section of the wall falls I feel my legs give out, the last thing I see is Lucian running towards me and then I see darkness.
