I had decided to use Portal Stones to get home to Caembarin quicker and avoid getting in trouble in the towns and cities in between. The problem with the portal stones is that it is quite dangerous and it was still a week's distance from where I currently am.
Right now I am on my horse nearing a small town, I have been riding for two days and need a bath, food, and a good night's rest.
I see an Inn and get off my horse, I give it to the stable boy and head in.
"What can I get you?," says the Inn's owner, "I would like some food taken to my horse in the stables, a room for the night with a bath drawn, and some food brought to me, please.
"Yeah sure, here let me take you to the room"
We walk up to the second floor of the inn and I am given the room to the right.
"your food will be brought up in a moment"
"Thank you, " I say as I start to take off my purple cape. I sit at the table by the window and look outside. I really needed some rest.
____ The next morning I am feeling refreshed and I head downstairs for some breakfast, I sit down at one of the tables near the back and wait for the waitress to come.
"Morning Miss, what can I get for you"
"I'll have some eggs and beans, with some fruit on the side please"
As I'm eating I see a couple of guys staring at me from the opposite corner. They see me and start walking to me.
" Excuse me for disturbing your breakfast, I just wanted to ask if you were Princess Liana"
I look at them suspiciously, they notice this, and quickly the other person says " We don't mean to scare you if you are, our names are Alaric and Cassian, we mean you no harm, it's just my dad works in the royal guard, and if you were princess Liana we were worried if you were traveling alone.
"Who is your father by chance" I said still trying to figure out if they were telling the truth.
" He is ......." one of the guys started to say, but was cut off
"Princess Liana," a man says behind me. I turn and I see a man on his knees behind me.
"Ser Brandon!, please stand," I say, as I hug him. He's a good friend of the family and his family has always been part of the royal guard.
"Princess what are you doing all the way out here, and all alone where is Aiden" he says, since Aiden is my personal guard and my best friend, it is rare for us to be apart.
" I was summoned to the White Tower, and they said to come alone, so I told him to stay home, and that I would be back soon, but it has been 4 months since I have been gone, he must be worried, but I am headed home now. What are you doing here Ser Brandon? "
" Your mother sent me to retrieve a letter from the kingdom to the north of here, but I decided to stop for my boys, we are originally from this town of Coldwater, you see my wife recently passed away and they are alone, so I decided to bring them with me to the castle, to start there training for the guard"
" If they train well I might choose them to be part of the royal guard when I become Queen since your family has always been loyal and good friends"
" See that boys, you already have the favor of our future Queen"
"Thank you so much Princess Liana, it would be an honor to be under your service," says his oldest son
"We will work hard and diligently to be the best so that we can protect your family in the future," says his youngest son
" Well, I am going to hold you to your word," I say.
" Princess it would be our honor to escort you home," Ser Brandon says, and the three bow,
" it would be greatly appreciated, especially since I have decided to take the portal stones and I can't use the One power inside, so I welcome any protection you can give"
" We will guard you with our life Princess," they say, although I can see that Ser Brandon's sons were worried about entering the portal stones, considering the rumors that surround them, I can see that they will do their best.

After a week of going through valleys and mountains, we get to a portal stone.
"Ser Brandon, when I open the portal enter first and I'll follow so I can close it and make sure no one follows after us".
"Yes Princess, boys you first ". I start to use the One Power to open the gates, Alaric and Cassian enter first and are closely followed by Ser Brandon, I hurry up and cross the gates, observing how they close behind us. As I looked ahead I saw that it was dark, we had to leave the horses behind since they made too much noise and wouldn't fit on the bridge we had to walk all the way.
It has been a while since I have been inside a portal, I forgot how dark it feels inside like somebody was trying to surround me with shadows, and never let me feel happiness again.
"We have to stay silent and move quickly, it should take a day's walk to reach the end of the bridge, I suggest Alaric and Cassian guard the back and Ser Brandon leads"
Everybody agrees and we start walking,.....

I can see the columns that lead to the gate, that will bring us to the outskirts of Caembarin.
Now is the tricky part, I have to use the one power to open a portal to exit. Once I do that all the creatures that dwell inside the abyss of the portal gates will be drawn to me.
"Okay, once I open the portal, we will have seconds to exit, or we will die in here" Alaric and Cassian immediately have shocked looks on their faces,
"This time, you have to go exit first," says Ser Brandon seriously
" No, I have to ...." I start to say
"Sorry princess but if it is as dangerous as you say you can't be the last one to leave, we will not put you in harm's way," Says Cassian
" Besides how will we be your knight and shining armor if we leave like cowards" says Alaric with a smirk
I have grown close with them in the week we traveled together.
" Fine, just promise you won't get yourself killed "
With that said, I started to open the portal with the guys surrounding me with their swords held up in defensive positions.
You hear screeches in the distance, once the portal is fully opened I get out I turn, and see the guys fight a flying beast, I shoot a beam of light, as they quickly make it out,
"wow, you weren't kidding," says Cassian out of breath
I laugh at how frazzled he looks, " Hey I did warn you"
"PRINCESS !!"
I turn around and see the guards of the portal bowing.
"Stand " I say
"Princess everyone in the kingdom is worried no one knew where you were" says one of the guards
" There is no need to worry, come lets go home" I say with a smile, happy to be seeing my family and friends.
