*The Next Day*
August 2
Beyoncé Knowles POV

"So how was your summer? What did you do?" Asia asked me as we sat down in the university's café.

"I just um.. worked basically." I told her simply. I felt like I was going to eventually have to explain why I had barely texted or called over the summer, but I didn't necessarily want to get into all of that.

"Okay.. so you were busy. That's understandable. I'm glad it's not because of what happened the last time we saw eachother.." She trailed off while looking at me intensely.

"Nah we're good." I reassured her, still keeping things simple. I honestly didn't feel any type of way about what happened but I knew she would.

"Okay um.. well if you still want to hang out sometime..." She shrugged.

"You mean—"

"Yeah. If you want. I get what this is and i'm fine with that. We're in college having fun right?" She grinned at me slightly.

"Right." I nodded.

"So.. tonight?" She asked me timidly. She obviously had been thinking about this all summer. I would be lying if I said I hadn't thought about her as well.

"I would, really..but I have to work after class."

"All night?"

"Honestly i'm not sure. Is it okay if I let you know?"

"Yeah sure. I'll wait up if you want." She offered and went back to picking at her food.

*****
9 PM

The nighttime air was still hot and humid. It was one thing that remained the same for me since leaving Texas. When one of the large double doors to the Harris' residence flew open, Mrs. Harris was standing there in very obvious night attire. It felt strange to be back after leaving just hours ago. I had to lie to Alex like I was going to see Asia and this whole setup was already a little too weird.

Instead of verbally speaking, I lifted up my tool bag, showing that I was back for obvious reasons. She also spoke with actions instead of words by stepping aside to let me in. The house seemed bigger at night and when she did speak, her voice echoed throughout it's walls.

"Are you tired?" She asked me with a deeper tone than usual.

"No ma'am." I responded, making her smile.

"You have excellent manners. Here, i'll show you where you'll be working."

The hallways were filled with echoes at every turn. The house was so beautiful and filled with so much expensive furniture and artwork, but was still so very empty. It lacked the one thing a home needed the most. Love.

"Where is Mr. Harris? Would he be angry if he caught me here?" I asked her.

"No." She responded simply, not even answering the first question.

"This is the room." She changed the subject while walking me into a large room that already looked like a well put together study.

"Uh it's.. this is beautiful..what do you want to change?" I questioned her like I had done about the marble floors on our first walkthrough of the home. I didn't want to judge or be ocd about things at someone else's house, but she had to know how well designed this place already was.

"I'm a sexologist. This is the study of a lawyer or something. This is a study that my husband would like."

"Why not keep it for him?"

"Because he's never seen it to miss it or care about it. I want to transform it into mine. It's right by the room I want to make a nursery for—" She stopped talking suddenly.
