Beyoncé Knowles POV

"Saw Asia leaving here again." Alex eyed me with a smirk. He was sitting on the brand new couch I had brought us and was eating jerk chicken and rice.

"Yeah so? and if you waste something on this couch it's me and you nigga." I sat down beside him and started going through my notes. Of course I spent my weekends studying.

He quickly sat the food in its proper place on our glass table, then leaned forward to eat before he responded.

"So looks like it's more than just friends with benefits." He shrugged. "I like Asia. She's a good girl."

"Yeah. Yeah she is." I thought about it while I also tried to understand something I had jotted down in my notes.

"You're studying on the weekend?" He laughed.

"You should be too." I nudged his arm.

"Alright so if I spill my food it's on you."

"As long as it's not on my couch."

"Yeah I heard you the first time Mr. Clean." He continued eating but then kept side eyeing me.

"Al what is it? I can't focus with you staring me down."

"You spend a lot of time with Asia, which is good I'm happy for you but hey, you haven't been out to one party with your best friend." He pouted playfully.

As much as I wanted to tell him what I was really doing with all my time, I couldn't. I had to let him assume it was with Asia and not Mrs. Harris, per her wishes. I mean I had been seeing Asia more and talking to her more often, but that wasn't where I spent most of my nights. Mrs. Harris had been giving me pointers and teaching me a lot during my nights working on her study. She was the reason I was even present to be more attentive to Asia.

"What parties Al? You haven't asked me to go to anything."

"Cause by the time I want to ask, you're already out of the door to go smooch." He started making kissing sounds. Al could really show me how much of a guy he was at times.

"So what do you suggest? I don't believe i've seen any parties this saturday. We'll go next weekend if there's any events, deal?" I asked him in an attempt to get out of it.

"Nope no deal. We're going somewhere. Can you at least have a drink or 2 with your bestfriend since childhood?" He begged and I sighed. "We'll go to Velvet, you like that bar right?"

"Sure Al. Let me finish up here at least and I'll throw something on?"

Alex and I drove the same car to Velvet about an hour after our conversation. When pulling into the parking lot, I groaned aloud at how packed the bar was. Saturday night in a small town just outside of campus, of course Velvet had cars lined up in the street.

"Damn." I said as I parked almost an entire street over.

"It's some hoes in there tonight." Alex rubbed his hands together excitedly while we walked to the bar.

Once we made it to the entrance, security let us right in due to my good reputation with the owner. People were lined up shoulder to shoulder, dancing, and throwing back shots. A lot of them I recognized from school.

"Here Bey." Al put a shot glass full of clear liquid in my hand.

"What the hell? How did you get this so fast? We just walked in!" I yelled at him over the loud chatter and music. He laughed and pointed to the shot tray the bartender was holding. Someone had bought the entire bar shots? I instantly started looking around to see who in this piss poor town was balling like that. As I looked around, I didn't notice anyone that I hadn't been around before or whose pockets were blessed like that, so I gave up.
