The air was thick with tension as all eyes fixated on Charlie, the teenage boy who had stumbled into the heart of a nightmare. The towering man, Hazel's father, stood poised for the final blow against the snarling, bloodied creature that was once Leyton. His clawed hand hovered over the beast, brimming with power.

"Hazel," her father said, his voice a command of steel, "get him out of here

"Hazel," her father said, his voice a command of steel, "get him out of here."

"Yes, Father!" Hazel snapped to attention. Her own transformation began to reverse, the brown fur on her arms receding and her claws shrinking back into smooth human fingers. In one swift motion, so fast it seemed like she had teleported, she was suddenly in front of Charlie, her amber eyes boring into his.

"Come on," she said firmly, gripping his shoulder.

"No!" Charlie yelled, his voice cracking with desperation. He twisted away, standing his ground. "I'm not leaving him! I can't—he's my friend!"

Hazel's expression faltered for a moment, her gaze softening, but she tightened her grip. "There is no helping him," she said quietly, her tone laced with something that almost sounded like regret. She placed her hand on his chest, holding him back with surprising gentleness—but unyielding strength.

Charlie pushed against her, his hands pressing against her arm, but it was like trying to shove a mountain. Hazel didn't budge an inch. "Please!" Charlie pleaded, his voice trembling. "I've got to save him. I have to try!"

Hazel opened her mouth to respond, but before she could get a word out, a deafening burst of wind tore through the forest

Hazel opened her mouth to respond, but before she could get a word out, a deafening burst of wind tore through the forest. The sheer force shoved her forward into Charlie, and both of them toppled to the ground, landing in a heap.

Hazel scrambled to her knees, shaking her head to clear the dizziness. She reached out to help Charlie, but the sound of earth-shaking impacts snapped her attention to the right. Her breath caught in her throat at the sight before her.

Her father—the strongest man she'd ever known, leader of the Ultrnaya tribe—was locked in a ferocious exchange of blows with Leyton. The beast roared and clawed with maddened fury, and her father met each strike with precision and raw power, his fists deflecting the razor-sharp attacks like an impenetrable shield.
