I DO NOT OWN BRIDGERTON

Bridgerton House. London, England. The next day.

Now that Daphne had been named the season's diamond, the entire house went into a flurry of activity. The maids were desperate to get the house ready for what would hopefully be an endless line of suitors competing with each other for Daphne's hand; especially because Lady Whistledown (Penelope) was telling everyone how much of a prize Daphne apparently was. Why everyone thought she was such a catch was beyond me? I mean, she was beautiful and polite and all, but after seeing how she treated Simon after learning of his vow to remain childless; she just rubbed me the wrong way. Of course, I couldn't show it. I maintained the appearance of a loving brother at all times; and Nolan had said that doing theater in high school was a waste of time.

"I simply cannot wait for my first event of the season." Daphne said at the table as we enjoyed bowls of Bacon soup and biscuits for our noontime meal.

"Remind me, which event is this again?" I inquired, as if I didn't already know.

"Lady Danbury's Soiree, we shall all be attending, excusing Gregory and Hyacinth, to support our dear sister." Anthony said with a slight frown as he kept his nose in that day's newspapers. It was clear that Anthony felt he had better things or people, in the case of Siena Russo, to do then chaperoning Daphne around as she searched for the perfect suitor.

"Why can we not come?" Hyacinth whined as Gregory poured, for in a rare instance, he was in total agreement with his sister.

"We should be allowed to dance." He declared as it took everything that I had to hide the smirk appearing on my face at their adorable tantrums.

"Because events of the social season are meant for people of a certain age, my dears." Violet replied with the smile and tone she always used when one of her children was trying to rock the boat.

"Trust me, you won't be missing a great deal. The sight of Lady Danbury in form would give you night mares." Benedict replied with a smirk. The children weren't pleased at this response, but thankfully they went back to their soup.

Danbury house. London, England. Later that night.

After a few hours of reading and watching Anthony and Benedict fence, we got into our carriages and went off to Casa del Danbury. Now watching the estate on Netflix, it already looked pretty epic. Actually being there in person, that was something else entirely. The decor was superbly eye-catching, the wine and hors d'oeuvres were quite delicious, and the music was admittedly enjoyable to listen to. To be honest, Colin didn't really have a whole lot to do this episode before saving Pen from being embarrassed by the bitch Cressida Cowper. Against my better judgement, I decided to get on the dance floor while Daphne and Anthony did their good cop-bad cop routine. I was no expert, but I managed to not make a fool of myself. I saw Penelope on the sidelines, watching my every move. I offered her a smile and she graciously smiled back. It made it all the more obvious that Colin was a damn fool for not noticing how badly Penelope wanted his ass. I eventually excused myself when I saw Benedict approaching his siblings.

"Anthony, Daph!" He called out as I moved next to him.

"If the only gentlemen present this evening are your brothers, then we're in a great deal of trouble, indeed." Anthony lamented.

"You continue to say we..."Daphne started to say in confusion at why Anthony was so concerned about her prospects.

"Did Mother tell you yet...about my tour? I'm to begin in Greece." I interjected, trying to stop an argument from brewing.

"Greece? How adventurous, Colin!" Daphne said, seemingly genuinely excited for her brother.

"On guard!" Anthony snapped as he and Benedict cleared their throats nervously before attempting to flee as the infamous Lady Danbury was upon us. I had to admit that even I was a bit intimidated by the woman. She had a look like she'd put your nuts in a jar if you so much as looked at her the wrong way.

"Too late, I already noted you." she warned as us boys knew we were trapped.

"Lady Danbury, good evening." Me and my brothers said in unison, bowing our heads in respect.

"Miss Bridgerton, you look rather lovely this evening." Lady Danbury remarked to a smiling Daphne. "Is there a reason I've yet to see you on the dance floor?"

"All in good time, Lady Danbury." Anthony assured her with a forced smile. It was clear as day that she saw through his protective brother BS.

"You poor thing." she replied with pity for Daphne having to deal with Anthony's antics. As I excused myself, I spotted Marina Thompson out of the corner of my eye. She looked beautiful and I immediately felt pity for the mental crises that the actress portraying her would suffer. A part of me wanted to introduce myself, but she was already dealing with a few suitors. I decided that I could scope her out at a later time. Meanwhile, I saw Penelope and the sorrowful sows that she called sisters standing alone. I felt bad for Pen having to be pushed into this when she clearly wasn't ready, so I decided to head over. Pen's uncomfortable frown quickly turned to a smile as she saw me heading her way.

"Good evening, Colin." She said with a curtsy as I bowed my head in return.

"Good evening Pen, may I have this next dance?" I asked as her face lit up like a Christmas tree while Prudence and Philippa looked like they had just been struck across the face. Penelope eagerly nodded as she accepted my outstretched hand and came with me onto the dance floor. As the orchestra started to play a slower, but not totally slow song, I took Penelope in my arms; her hand on my shoulder, my hand on her waist, and we started to dance. As we danced, I couldn't keep my eyes off of her. Maybe Penelope was stereotypically pretty, like those models who basically live on a bottle of water and a pack of croutons, but I thought she was a knock out. The way her eyes shined, the sound of her voice, the way her curves fit into the yellow dress she loathed. For the first time since being dropped in this world, I was having fun.
