Sadie Kane POV
Time seemed to stop. Everyone, just for a second, was silent. Was still. Not a pin dropped, not a peep slipped out, and for a moment, the world fell silent. Nothing lasts forever however.
"What are you saying?" I try to laugh, but it comes out hollow, "That I'm immortal?"
"Yes," Carter says seriously, "Yes I am."
I have a secret confession. I don't like awkward moments. And how do I solve that?I laugh. So, after that dead-serious, world-shaking news, I just bust out laughing like I'm watching a cheesy Hallmark movie or something. Everyone just stares at me, dumbfounded, angry, confused. Shelly, a first grader magician, bursts out in tears. I stop laughing. Immortal? How can that be? How does that even work?
My heart burning, I ask, "Can you guys leave me alone for just a sec? I need to process this." They all left reluctantly, probably sad, scared, confused. I know I am.
Before everyone cleared out, Walt looked back at me and said, "You probably don't want to hear me right now, but now we have another thing in common, yknow?"
I was about to answer, but he was already gone. I was about to say "You're right". Because he is. Now, considering the fact that Gaea did in fact turn me into a goddess, I would be immortal. Just like Anubis. I always thought after I would die, he would date someone else. Someone prettier, funnier, smarter, just better. But now, there's nothing holding us back. Nothing to give an end to our relationship but ourselves.
I wonder if he still wants me. Maybe the only reason he dated me was because it was a quick romance, and he wouldn't have to worry about that 'full, marriage type commitment'. If he left me now, I seriously wouldn't know what I would do.
What would I do? Be like the other gods, dating around for all eternity?
Forever... alone?
