SIMILARLY TO MAISY, Walker was also not in the best of moods. However, he was more infuriated than he was sad. He was frustrated with himself. He knew it was a bad idea to pursue anything romantic with Maisy for the sake of their friendship, but he still went ahead and let his crush on her get the better of him.

But what frustrated him even more was the fact that Maisy kissed him. She constantly talked about how much she loved being friends with him and she constantly called him a friend. And yet, she was the one who kissed him. And Walker was absolutely flabbergasted. She friend-zoned him, kissed him, and freaked out about it all in the span of five minutes. And she didn't even give him the chance to tell her how he felt. And for the first time ever in his life, he was mad at Maisy.

He was mad that's she brushed everything off without letting him speak his mind and telling her about his feelings. She was so big on communication, but the second they had something they needed to talk about, she pushed him away.

Walker did try texting her the day after her birthday. It was only a simple text that read: how was your birthday? After receiving a dry response from her that said: good, Walker sighed and immediately knew that there was no way they'd go back to being just friends.

He thought that Maisy just needed some space, so that's exactly what he's been giving her lately. But it came in the price of his own happiness. Walker hated not talking to her every single day. He hated how awkward it was between them. He hated how he ruined everything. And sometimes he'd take out his feelings by constantly being irritated by anyone who wasn't Maisy talking to him.

Just as she promised in the groupchat with her friends, Leena decided that today was the day that she knocked some sense into her brother. She's done it before, she could do it again. Sure Leena was tired of her brother's irritability issues, but she was also tired of seeing him deprive himself of happiness. Maisy was the most perfect girl for Walker and Leena would be furious if Walker fumbled all because of lack of communication.

Leena knocked on Walker's bedroom door. She could practically hear him roll his eyes from where she was standing. "Come in!" Walker called out.

Leena opened the door and found her younger brother lying on his bed in the darkness. It was the middle of the afternoon and Walker had his blackout curtains closed. Not only that, but Walker had the hood of his hoodie on as he had his blanket wrapped around him, completely diminishing any light that wasn't already blocked out.

"What are you doing?" Leena questioned.

"Nothing. What do you want?" He replied in a monotone voice.
