"TIME TO GET UP, LOVEBIRDS!!" CHARLIE shouted like he was a mad man on a mission. without hesitation, he ripped the covers off of maisy and walker, then yanked the pillow from beneath walker's head and started whacking them both with it like it was a weapon of justice.

walker groaned, instinctively pulling maisy closer, shielding her with his body. "quit it," he muttered, half-asleep, half-annoyed.

"nope," charlie replied, his voice way too cheerful for eight a.m. he redirected the pillow's wrath solely onto walker now that maisy was tucked away.

"go away, you annoying fuck!" maisy mumbled, her voice muffled into walker's chest as she tried to disappear from existence.

charlie gasped dramatically, "first of all, rude. second of all, i thought i made one rule. one! and what was that rule?" he asked like a kindergarten teacher about to hand out detention slips. with every word, he gave walker another hard whack with the pillow. "no. sleeping. in. the. same. bed!"

"go find someone who cares," maisy groaned, reaching for the blanket and successfully pulling it back over their heads. walker chuckled softly into her hair, his chest shaking against her cheek.

she didn't know if he was laughing at her comeback or the situation itself, but either way, it was the only warmth in the room besides the body heat between them.

charlie ripped the blanket off again like a true menace. "and now look where you are! not in leah's trailer, not minding your business—nope—you're in walker's trailer, breaking my rule."

walker laughed again, this time louder.

"oh, what was that, walker? you think this is funny?"

walker was very quick to stop laughing. "uhm.. no?"

charlie raised the pillow again, but before he could strike, maisy shot out a hand and caught it.

"oh shit,"  charlie said under his breath, backing up immediately, knowing he truly pissed off his sister now.

she tossed the pillow aside and leapt out of bed, her legs swinging over walker's body. spotting his shoe on the floor, she picked it up like a weapon and bolted out the door after her older brother.

but as soon as she stepped outside—splash.

a cold shock hit her skin, soaking her from head to toe. she gasped loudly, dropping the shoe as her hair clung to her face and water ran down her legs.

she blinked rapidly, trying to process what just happened. there was no way charlie could've filled a bucket that fast—right?

she turned slowly, hair dripping, eyes narrowed, and locked eyes with the culprit.
