Chapter 16

As Shadow sped weaving in and out of the trees, splitting his attention on avoiding the obstacles in their path and listening to the directions being given to him by Amy as she points saying "Go North-West from here the energy is coming from over there." skidding as they quickly turn a tree continuing the fast pace towards their goal, Amy's focus broken as Shadow comes to a sudden stop. Looking up she sees a sheer cliff face, she closes her eyes once more honing in on the energy saying "It's straight ahead there might be a cave around here with any luck." hopping out of Shadow's arms she starts to rummage out of her pack, she pulls out the small camping kit he stored inside she pulls out a small flashlight clicking it to see if the batteries still, as a bright beam of light comes out she clicks it off. "Let's start by searching along the base of the mountain." said Shadow slinging her back over her shoulder once more Amy begins to stretch her legs saying "Alright, let's take it slow though we don't want to run past the cave and miss it." Shadow replies "Might be best if we wait till morning, I doubt the moonlight will provide enough light for us to spot the cave by easily." "Wish you said that before I slung the bag back on." Amy teases, giving a light giggle as she digs through the pack once more saying "If that's the case then it might also be a good idea if we start a have something to eat before we go to bed." finally grasping ahold of what she was searching for procuring a pack of the premade rations Shadow had stored inside, pulling apart the silver foil she is greeted with the sight of a what looked to be a large cracker, but felt like a dense lump of bread with little give. "Hey ah Shadow, why don't we go back to town and eat some real food or home and I can make us something." Amy says with pleading eyes, Shadow didn't care much for the flavorless dry dough bricks himself but they were filling and also unfortunately for him in a large readily available supply. He says "We might as well just sleep at home as well, after were done eating. I will teleport us back to the entrance of the forest after we have rested." jumping with Amy wraps her arms around Shadow's neck saying "Thank you so much!" As she peppers his cheek with a few quick kisses she uses the chaos emerald in her hands to bring the both of them into her home. She blinks her eyes at the sudden brightness that she didn't expect as she adjust to the sunlight that leaks through the curtains in her living room. Shadow chuckles "Only downside to the ability to go anywhere at any time is the time zone difference, I would say you'll get used to it but it's not nice to lie." "Not going to lie, didn't think of that part I just wanted an actual meal before bed." Amy replies while rapidly blinking her eyes before she begins to rub them.

Sonic goes to Restoration H.Q, once their he looks around for Tails or the Diamond Cutters disturb from his search by Tangle "Hey Sonic, if your looking for Jewels or Tails you might have to wait a bit Jewels is in a meeting , and Tails is coordinating the tech guys on the job their going to do." "Thanks Tangle I just came by to inform Tails that I have found the white chaos emerald." said Sonic, before he could turn to leave Tangle perks up saying "Oh and before I forget Tails said he wanted to talk to you, seemed important might not want to keep him waiting." groaning to himself Sonic expects to be scolded by his little brother over his actions, he dreads these kinds of talks with Tails as he always feels like he is being treated like a child being looked down on by someone younger then himself. "R-right, thanks for the heads up." said Sonic "Don't mention it, follow me I'll show you to where he's at." said Tangle, Sonic replies "Alright let's get this show on the road." The two begin to go down the large corridor in silence, passing a few recruits and other personal that were responsible for keeping the facility operating smoothly as the two neared another corner a pair of large double doors come into view "We're here." says Tangle stopping by the door holding it open as Sonic enters she follows behind. "Hey Sonic glad you're here, just give me a few minutes." Tails shouted to his brother, Sonic calls back "Sure thing." Sonic turns to talk to Tangle only to see that she was no where in sight sighing Sonic sits waiting in silence for Tails' eventual scolding. Eventually settling into his boredom Sonic began to watch in great interest the teams that Tails was ordering around among them were a variety of Mobians one of the leaders appeared to be an old bear his muzzle grizzled and scarred he looked more like a drill sergeant then someone who would be the kind to work behind a computer as he stalked around supervising the large team under him, his dark auburn fur peppered white with age. The next team leaders was a small mouse she stood out as she scurried along amongst her coworkers her bright green coat of fur made her stick out as she hurried along trying to lead her team in an attempt to study the robot part that were brought to them, her team was smaller consisting of only eight members but she worked along side her team while trying to lead them as a young otter rushed around playing jockey to the other's giving tools, and small containers to the others. Then finally the captain of the third team was set about a table filled with old schematics as a few Gun robots could be seen sitting in a corner nearby among them Sonic could note a few beatles, hawks, and robotic troopers, glancing at the team leader once more he appeared to be a very plain mobian at first glance nothing seems to make them stand out as they worked diligently amongst their team soldering new chips into the robots he was a primarily brown cat that had amber eyes his coat appeared to be frizzy and short as it seemed to be standing on end like as if he just received a shock, only offset by his droopy face making him appear to be half asleep.
