It was a beautiful morning in Roanoke. A bit chilly, but that was normal for late October. The birds were singing, the leaves were falling, and the local shops were opening their doors. People walked around with warm drinks (most of them from the famed Blue Flame Coffee House, one of the most critically acclaimed cafes in America), on their way to work or school. Groups of children congregated in schoolyards and playgrounds before class, discussing what they would be dressing up as that night. For it was Halloween, a time of magic... and a time of great change.

It was sixteen years to the day after her birth, and Alecto Eris Fowle-Shimura, sole scion of the Fowle family, heiress to Fowle Enterprises, and only child of the infamous villain Tomura Shigaraki was... laying in bed, staring at her phone with an expression of pure, unadulterated confusion.

"What the fuck?", Alecto whispered to herself as she stared at the image one of her oldest and best friends, Jonah Binx, had sent her. She couldn't make out what it was. Was it a photo, was it a meme? She had no idea. She texted her friend as much, asking for clarification, but her only response was 'WEEDWACKER' in all caps. The girl sighed heavily and covered her eyes with her free hand.

"Goddamnit Jonah... ", she grumbled (ignoring the fact that she could be just as chaotic, if not more so), before closing her eyes and trying to get a few more precious minutes of sleep in, since her friend's text had woken her up around twenty minutes before her alarm went off. This wasn't in the cards, however, as the second Alecto shut her eyes, the digital clock beside her bed went off. The girl groaned loudly the instant she heard it's annoying wake-up call.

BEEP! BEEP! "YOU HAVE SCHOOL IN HALF AN HOUR, MOVE YOUR ASS!", a robotic voice shouted from the alarm clock's speaker. Alecto groaned again and sat up.

"Goddamnit Uncle Dabi! Why the fuck couldn't you give me a normal alarm clock for Christmas like a normal person?!", Alecto screamed, very annoyed at the world today. And it wasn't even noon yet. That didn't bode well.

"GET UP! MOVE FASTER!", the alarm clock ordered her in that same grating voice. Alecto turned and glared at it with all the anger her namesake had.

"I AM, YOU GODDAMN SPRICK!", Alecto shouted at the device, before holding out her hand towards it.

"Latem parcs otni uoy nrut I erofeb pu kcuf eht tuhs (Shut the fuck up before I turn you into scrap metal)!", Alecto casted with practiced ease, causing the alarm clock to finally turn off. She sighed in relief and glared at the powered-down device.

"About time.", she griped, before throwing the covers off of herself and getting out of bed. She briefly shivered upon making contact with the cool air, before solving that problem with a wave of her hand towards her closet.

"Em ot, sehtolc (Clothes, to me).", Alecto said, and within an instant her closet doors flew open, and her preferred outfit for the day came wheezing into her hands. She smiled at the efficiency of it all. Some people might say she was too reliant on magic. Those people were just butthurt they didn't have it in the first place. Besides, it wasn't like she was helpless without it. Anything she could do with a spell, she could do through other means.

With that last thought, Alecto took off the shirt she had been sleeping in and got into her clothes for the day; a classy white button-up shirt with black dress pants, black dress shoes, and a black blazer. She also wore her school pin on her right lapel; a yellow hexagon with a honey bee on it and a black letter 'H' over it. Alecto wore it every day, because it was a pin only given to the best of the best at her school. A gift from the Headmistress herself to mark her status as the top student, and that was an important title to have; being the best at H.I.V.E. Academy wasn't something to be taken lightly.
