"Good morning, mommy! Rise and shine!" Maddie woke up earlier than I did again.
"Good morning, sweetheart." I gave her a small smile and pulled her carefully for a kiss on her cheek, which she immediately returned on me, too.
"Did Momma go home already?" she pouted.
"Yes, she has to go home. And don't worry, she's coming back later." I caressed her hair smoothly.
"Okay! Let's eat breakfast, mommy. I still have class." She hugged me tightly before running out from our bedroom.
I was about to follow Maddie, but my phone notified me of a text message again, which I immediately read.
Morganton Lewis: Good morning.
Morganton Lewis: Caius, Maure, June, and Giovanna want to meet Maddie. Is that fine for dinner later?
Professor Alvarez: Okay, let's do that.
Morganton Lewis: I will pick you guys up.
Professor Alvarez: Maddie would love that.
Morganton Lewis: Would you, too?
Here she was again.
Morganton Lewis: I will take your silence as a yes.
I decided to just turn off my phone with a mixed feeling. Why couldn't I answer that goddamn simple question?
The usual day passed; Maddie was in school, and I was back being a professor again. After dismissals, me and Maddie were back in the condominium, waiting for Morganton's call. After a few minutes, the doorbell finally rang loudly, which made me rush to go there.
Okay, I couldn't deny the fact that I was excited.
"Hey," Morganton gave me a small smile, and she was literally holding a lot of bags in her hand; the other hand was holding a beautiful bouquet.
"What's with all of thi-" Before I could even react, Maddie interrupted and ran to her.
"Momma!" Maddie shouted, as Morganton smiled widely and then dropped the things she was carrying to hug her daughter. I was just standing there, a small smile formed on my lips.
"Mommy! Join us! Hug!" Maddie loudly uttered, and Morganton was already smirking, waiting for my move.
"Let's just go in." I chuckled a little and picked up the things Morganton bought, which she immediately helped me with as soon as Maddie stopped.
We were already inside the house, and Maddie was the one who's really excited opening the shopping bags. Morganton stood up, holding the bouquet to give it to me.
"Flowers for you," she uttered, smiling.
"What's with all of this? Really, what's that?" I pointed out the shopping bags, not taking the bouquet yet.
"I'm spoiling my daughter with clothes and toys because she deserves it." She proudly smirked. "And flowers for the most beautiful woman in the world, why not?"
I suddenly felt butterflies in my stomach as I was speechless.
"So, just take it, Adeline." She insisted, and I just took the bouquet from her hand as if I were annoyed.
"These are gorgeous." I smiled.
"Like you," she answered; her smile never faded. "Let's go?"
"I will just dress up," I answered back. "Honey, let's go to your room; we'll get ready." Then, I called out Maddie, who was enjoying her brand new things.
