((When I said I was done with this series. I lied. I've been stuck with writers block forever. I am pushing myself to write more Noa/Reader stuff cause there ain't shit.))

((Revised stuff I guess.))

He could hear something shuffling from behind the racks of fish. Noa lets out a cough from the ash and smoke clouding the area, covering the lower half of his face as the ape's body draw closer to the noise. He knows you are hiding somewhere. Whatever you were. To sense you so close.

Your eyes glued in the direction, your body still as to not startle the young ape. The sharp, excruciating pain in your leg made you bite down on your lip. You nearly forgotten the giant gash on your calf from an unfortunate attack earlier, nearly managing to escaping.

Noa continued to stride towards your direction, determined to see who was hiding behind the lines of hanging fish. His heart raced in anticipation, certain that once he caught you, things would possibly not end well.

You were much aware of the intelligence these apes were. More smarter than humans. What they were capable of, how they manage to adjust to their environments. They were evolved to the point where they were able to sign and speak sign. You had to be cautious of what you do. And how quick you move.

Your chest felt as if it was squeezing tighter, and the pain in your leg wasn't helping either. It would get infected if not treated properly. The slightest movements made it much worse and difficult for you to even be able to escape. It was then when Noa spotted you, soft green eyes latched onto your form.

Noa's face shifts into a more serious expression. An echo. There wasn't much that he needed to think as seconds he lunged at you, yet you were quicker, pushing past him and out the tent. You closed your arms tight, dashing off with the amounts of food you casually took from the apes. You weren't a fan of stealing but it was the only way you could eat. To survive in this post-apocalyptic world.

Noa continued to chase after you until he lost sight of you. He lets out a huff in defeat, watching the way the bushes shook from you hitting them. Though his eyes caught a glimpse of that gash. He knew that at some point, your paths will cross again.

Your back rests against the bark of a tree, eyes closed as the flow of the streams water replay in your ear

Your back rests against the bark of a tree, eyes closed as the flow of the streams water replay in your ear. The gash on your leg was now covered with fabric from your shirt. The temporary bandage was stained with blood and the urgency to get it treated so it could heal was the main thing on your mind. But how would you even be able to seek help. You weren't even in an area surrounded by other humans that weren't regressed.

Yet alone one who had experience in the medical field.

The question lingered.

Your teeth rips into the flesh of the cooked fish, the texture juicy and somewhat flavourful, though you didn't complain. Having to scavenge and steal was more of a challenge than hunting food on your own. Your thoughts, still processing the close call of getting caught by that ape. You needed to be careful next time. A snap of a twig echoes throughout the radius of the forest.

It was too dark to see which direction it came from, but somehow, somewhere, you were being watched. And those same set of eyes you looked into earlier, stared back at you once again.
