I'm sitting at a desk next to Jay's when Hank walks in.
"We have a case." He states, gaining the attention of everyone in the bullpen. He puts two pictures into the whiteboard of two children that couldn't be any older than twelve. "Alecia and Kade Johnson went missing from their home on ****** street. Halstead, Ruzek,Rojas and Jasmine you head over to the family home." He tells us. "See if there's anything that could be helpful in finding their children." He explains. We all go to the locker room to grab our vests and coats just in case. We then head downstairs. With the two dogs in tow.I put my sunglasses on as we leave the precinct and get into the parking lot. Adam and Jay go off with each other and get into Jay's car.
"Looks like us girls are together," I nudge Rojas's arm playfully and she rolls her eyes. I click the unlock button on my key and I spot a black pickup truck with a hardtop light up. We walk over with the dogs and I open the back window of the hardtop and the back of the truck itself before opening the kennels that are in the back with a shelf like but in between both kennels that has a fire extinguisher in it. I load the dogs into their kennels before closing the back and hopping into the front drivers seat.We drive to the location and we get out in front of a small suburban home with a woods around the back of it. I unload Atlas as she's hypoallergenic. I give Maude a treat though and I leave the back window open a little but it doesn't look like it is open. I then stand by the passenger side of the car with Rojas waiting for the boys to arrive. Soon jay pulls into the drive that we're in and he gets out with Ruzek.
"How did we leave after you but managed to get here first?" I ask them.
"We took a tiny little detour." Ruzek smiled sheepishly. I roll my eyes. We walk up the porch to gather and I knock on the door.It opens to reveal a middle aged couple.
"Mr and Mrs Johnson?" I ask the two. They nod.
"Chicago police department,we're detectives. Do you mind if we come in for a chat?" I ask them.
"Of course." Mrs Johnson replies. They let us in and we enter the living room. Atlas lays at my feet as I lean against a doorway. The man gives us Sceptical looks.
"We are only here about your kids Mr Johnson. Nothing else." I reassure him. He becomes less tense and he sits on the couch beside his wife. The parents tell us that when they got home from a doctors appointment after their kids came home from school and their kids where no where to be found and that they didn't pick up their phones when their parents had called them.
"Are you okay if Detective Rojas and I take a look around both the kids' rooms?" I ask the two parents. They nod and Rojas follows me uk and Atlas follows at my heels. We enter a room that has mostly grey walls except for a sage green accent wall. There's a photo wall where the bed is and it's just pictures of the family. I look over to the desk and into the drawers only to find art supplies. The supplies are also scattered around the room. We look in the vent above her window but still find nothing.
We then go into the room next door which I assume is kade's as it has basketball posters everywhere along with a couple framed autographs. We search his desk nightstand and shelves I then notice the vent in his room is loose so I carefully climb on the desk,on my tiptoes and take the vent cover with ease. I feel around the vent. My hand touches something hard. I grab it and realise it's a phone commonly used as a burner.
