Recap:

“Take Imogen into one of the guest suites. Show her around and make sure she had everything she needs.” He commanded. Drake’s mouth fell open and he started spluttering. “That’s an order!” Adam commanded, glaring at him.

Instantly, his mouth snapped closed, and he nodded, before leading the way out of the office, and towards the staircase. “Come on.” He called gruffly, and led me up the stairs to the next floor.

Chapter 9 - Nightmares

Imogen POV’s:

I stood in awe gazing around the huge suite that I was to have. “This is for me?” I asked once again to an annoyed Drake as he stood there awkwardly in the doorway. “Yes.” He muttered through gritted teeth. I knew he was annoyed by my presence in this very house. Probably regretting the fact that he was the one who let us live in the first place. Iris smirked.

“Well, if you need anything else let me know. In the mean time...” He paused and gestured to the room. “Make yourself comfortable. Seems like you’ll be staying for a while.” He muttered the last part darkly and abruptly left, shutting the double doors behind him.

With Drake gone, I could finally relax and get a proper look around in the suite. To my left was a huge, plush king sized bed, complete with a sheer, black canopy and white and gold sheets. Directly opposite that, mounted up on the wall was a large plasma TV, and on the wall furthest to me, there were doors leading out onto a balcony.

I walked around the room, still gaping in awe. The soft, white carpet felt nice under my sore feet. I noticed a door on the other wall opposite the balcony, and I opened it curiously. My eyes almost popped out of my head as I saw the walk in closet with racks and rows of clothes, shoes and when I went closer to inspect, I found a large case filled with accessories and make-up. It was every girls dream closet, that much I was sure of.

I backed out of the closet and shut it firmly. I then went to the last door, opened it and flicked the light switch. Inside, was a bathroom that was at least 4 times larger than my old ‘bedroom’ and my eyes widened even further. To the left, was a large, round spa-like bath tub, complete with jets. To the right, was a huge, white shower that literally sparkled from how clean it was.

I walked, drawn towards it. On my way, I caught a glimpse of myself in the shiny mirror. My face was still harbouring old bruises, and the scar on my neck seemed to stand out against my pale skin. Jayden had given me that scar when I was 12. I had refused to do his homework, as I had so much of my own, and that was the consequence.

Slowly, I peeled off my clothes and turned the shower on. I looked longingly at the tub, but decided to use that later. I turned the shower to the hottest and stood under the cascading, burning water. I could feel the razor hot water against my skin, but it did nothing to thaw the numbness I felt.

I sighed as I turned around and grabbed a sponge from the shelf. There was already an assortment of shampoos, soaps and body scrubs there, so I grabbed the body scrub and literally cleaned myself from head to toe. Afterwards, I just stood there and watched the water drip down the glass door.

Robotically, I turned off the water, stepped out of the shower and grabbed a large towel to wrap around myself. I rubbed the steam off of the mirror and stared at me reflection. My skin was bright red, and looked almost raw from my vigorous scrubbing. Good. Scrub off all of their insults. Iris spat. I could only nod.
