Evelyn Kane was the daughter of the infamous Marcus Kane. Since her father was in the council, she was called privileged, she got everything easy. Wrong. Evelyn was in the skybox, and her father kept her there.
Evelyn committed a crime, punishable by death, just like all the other delinquents in the skybox. Only I guess you could say her privilege was that she escaped being floated. But really that was her punishment. Watching other prisoners around her die, while she got to live. Thats how she got nicknamed the privileged.
Evelyn was 19 years old, she's been in her cell a year longer than anyone her age has ever seen. Once you turn the age of 18, you become evaluated, then the decision is made whether you get floated, or a second chance to be civil. That evaluation never came for Evelyn.
Truth is, floating prisoners was better for the ark anyway, the less people aboard, the more time to live. At least that's what her father believed. Not to mention, the ark was dying. Her friend Clarke thought people deserved to know. That's what ended her up in the very same situation; solitary confinement.
Her crime? Murder.
I guess she should have known that if she were to commit a crime, her father would make an example out of her. That's how Evelyn felt anyway.
Betrayed.
