Evelyn laid on the floor of her cell, looking up at the same ceiling she's seen everyday for almost two years. There was not much you could do in solitary confinement.

Thankfully she was allowed an old iPod, that her friends Monty and Jasper had brought her almost a year ago. She hadn't heard from them in a while. She remembered how they had a habit for growing things, and wondered if they'd wound up in the same place.

She was listening to some old song, when her cell had opened up with a big mechanical thump.

"Prisoner 238, face the wall." One of the guards say stepping into the cell.

Was it finally her turn? Was she getting put out of her misery? At this point Evelyn didn't even care if she died. She was prepared everyday she woke up.

"What's going on? Am I finally being floated?" She asks, standing up and frantically looking around.

"Quiet, stop asking questions." One says.

"If you're going to kill me, might as well just do it already. I don't even care anymore, I've been waiting for death for almost two years!" Evelyn yells at them turning around.

"Miss Kane, stop!" The guard says, yanking on her arm.

"Don't call me that!" She bites back.

He pulls out some sort of mechanical wrist band from a black box, and opens it around her wrist.

"What is that?!" Evelyn pulls against him.

She tries everything she can to pull away from the strong guard, but he was too strong.

"You should stop now, before this gets out of hand!"

"You're not putting that thing in my wrist!" Evelyn grunts, and in one final attempt, she kicks the man in the groin, leaving him to fold over.

She can't help but laugh, as she sprints past him and the other guard. Running onto the landing, she looks out and sees the other prisoners in similar situations.

"What the-" but before she can finish, she sees two more guards to her side. "Oh shit!" She mumbles and runs the opposite direction.

She still had a smile on her face, despite the situation, this was the most fun she's had in years. Well it was fun, until her smile faded at the face she saw in front of her.

"Evelyn." Her dad says her name.

"Dad?" Evelyn says softly not being able to stop herself out of surprise, but turns away from him, not wanting to look him in the eyes.

She hasn't seen her father since the day that she was taken to be locked up. Heard nothing from him. She wasn't about to talk to him now, just because she was dying.

"Prisoner 238!" The guard calls after her, but Marcus holds up his hand.

"Evelyn, this would be easier if you'd just cooperate." He says.
