"Who are you?"
A sharp British accent rang out, shocking Vi when she realised that not only was this person someone she had never met before, but was also a woman.
"You've got some kick, I'll give you that"
Vi said, spitting blood on the floor underneath her.
"Who are you?!"
The woman repeated
"Relax, I don't want to hurt you, name's Vi"
For the first time since she entered the room, Vi was able to get a layout of the room, the windows were covered with bedsheets, which caused the darkness that kept the strangers identity a mystery, but not for long. The woman paced sideways, circling Vi, who kept her eyes trained on her. There was a crack in the makeshift curtains, which allowed a ray of daylight to leak into the room, the stranger stepped into the light, revealing long, dark, navy blue hair and bright blue eyes as she exited the light as quickly as she entered it. After doing a full circle around Vi, she was able to believe the fact that she had no intentions of hurting her, as she clearly had bigger problems on her plate at that moment. She took her aim away from Vi before approaching the curtains and pulling one down, letting light flood the room as Vi squinted, her eyes adjusting to the sudden brightness.
"Now, your gun. Hand it over"
The woman pointed at the holster on Vi's thigh with the barrel of her gun, but Vi no longer had it in her to fight anymore, so she took the gun and slid it across the floor. The only other weapon she had was her gloves, but they wouldn't help her right now.The blue-haired woman circled around her one more time, before gasping deeply and running towards Vi from behind, pinning her against the floor face down.
"Where are your friends?"
The woman demanded with a sheer rage, pressing the barrel against Vi's back.
"What friends-"
"The fucking Zaunites, who else? Did you really think I wouldn't recognise your brand? Do you really think us Pilties are that stupid?"
Suddenly, Vi realised what was going on, and had to clear up the confusion that polluted the air around them. She laid her hands flat on the ground, showing her surrender before turning her head to the side.
"I'm not with them anymore, how do you think I got that gunshot?"
She asked, making the stranger's eyes widen as she looked down at the bloody wound that was beginning to seep into the carpet.
"I only came her for medical supplies then I'll be on my way"
Vi winced as she felt her wound sting as the stranger backed off of her, lowering her weapon and holding out her hand for Vi to take.
"My name's Caitlyn.."
She introduced herself, pulling Vi to her feet with ease, shocking Vi at the strength this slender woman had.
"You're hurt, pretty badly. So I want you to know. Putting you down would be a cakewalk for me, so if I find out you're lying-"
"I'm not, I heard what they did to your friend. It's fucked up.. They made us believe that you guys were the problem and that we were only defending ourselves. But what I saw today was completely different to the stories we were told"
Vi explained, taking off her jacket and tossing it on the floor while she examined her wound. It seemed to be getting worse by the minute
"You don't have any bandages do you?"
She asked, earning a no in response as Caitlyn shook her head. The taller woman was on edge in Vi's presence, not knowing what to believe, but right now, she didn't seem like a threat. The woman hesitated before setting down her rifle, and approaching Vi.
"Sit down"
"What?"
"Sit down, I'm going to help you"
She elaborated. Vi complied without so much as a remark, understanding that she needed this, now that the gun wasn't in the way, she began to relax, feeling safe for the first time since she left Zaun. She sat down on the edge of an empty, dusty bed as Caitlyn approached her, kneeling down in front of her. The dark-haired woman asked for permission to lift her shirt slightly, so she could examine the wound, to which Vi gave her permission. Her hands were cold, yet soft as she felt around the wound, checking for any severe swelling as she looked up at Vi, who's expression was filled with pain as she poked and prodded at her.
"When did you get shot?"
"A couple of hours ago? I don't know I didn't exactly time it"
Caitlyn's eyes widened as she looked back at the wound/
"How haven't you bled out?"
"WIllpower, I guess"
Vi chuckled before letting a slight cry of pain escape her lips.
"Sorry"
Caitlyn looked up again, feeling guilty.
"It's fine, you a medic or something?"
"No, but I know the basics, you have to know how to look after yourself if you're going to survive in this world"
