Y/N's P.O.V

— Three years earlier—

I climbed my way on top of Caitlyn's roof once more and with a gentle knock on the window let her know I was there. It wasn't long until she openned with a smile. -"Took you long enough. Come in." She held the window openned for me. -"I swear, the fence is getting bigger everytime I climb it." I replied and went in. Cait closed the window after me while I went to her table and leaned on it. -"So you're really going through with it." I turned to her. -"Of course I am. Being an Enforcer is a big thing. It's what I've always wanted." She replied crossing her arms on her chest.

-"I know, I know. I just wanna make sure it's you and not your mum making that decision." I told her truthfully. She rolled her eyes slightly and walked closer to me. -"I promise it was my decision alone. But she wasn't against it. She was quite supportive actually." I looked down at my feet. -"I'm sorry about how I reacted when you told me. I kinda ran off. I just needed to chew on that a little."

She gently lifted my chin. -"It's okay, love. I'm not angry." She smiled and kissed my forehead. -"Good." I said and pulled her in for another kiss. After a few seconds she pulled away. -"You know that's gonna be the end of your pranks, right? I will have the power to actually arrest you." She smirked. -"I hope that's a promise." I pushed her down on her bed. -"Try to be a bit quieter. I don't need your mom to hate me even more." I joked while unbuttoning her shirt. -"Shut up." She replied and roughly pulled me in for a kiss. That was the last and one of the best sex we ever had.

Not long after this night we broke up. Being an Enforcer took a lot of her free time and my training with Ian got more frequent too. We tried to make it work but in the end agreed we're better off as friends. We wanted a relationship so bad that we never realized we just needed a best friend. Breaking up got us closer that being together ever did. The best decision we made. I was so lucky I found a friend like her in the time I needed her the most.

—Present—

I stepped carefully over the broken glass. It brought me back to all the moments I've spend there. Some of them were the best days of my life. Of course I couldn't see far because of the gas but I knew the place by heart anyway.

I joined Vi at the old punching machine. It was all stripped of parts. -"Man, why would anyone need these parts? It was busted anyway." I said, feeling a little sad to see it that way. Vi didn't say anything, she kneeled down to pick something up. I looked over her shoulder and saw it was Claggor's googles. -"Is that really?....How?" I layed my hand on her shoulder. At that moment a water drop fell on the googles. Me and Vi both got startled and looked up. We scanned the celling for a couple of seconds. -"Anything?" I asked her. -"No. False alarm." She replied and we calmed down. -"Are you gonna keep those?" I pointed at the googles. -"Just as a keepsake maybe." She said. -"Why not put them on? They'd look good on you. But then again, everything does." I smiled at her, although she couldn't see it because of the mask.

Suddenly I heard a shot. I hurried towards Cait, who's gun was still smoking. -"Hey, what is it?" I asked. -"Nothing, just thought I saw something. Let's move out." She replied and just walked right past me. I looked back to see what she shot at. It was one of the targets, a hole straight to the head. Her aim is as sharp as ever. Let's just hope she knows her target.

—A few minutes later—

I followed the strike team into the sewer, sticking close to Vi. -"So, what's the plan, boss? Same as before?" Maddie asked Cait, her accent very notable. -"First we let the gas do it's thing and once we're sure everybody's out. We move in. Swift and quiet. Look for any signs of Jinx or where she might be." She replied, not taking her eyes from the path ahead. -"And destroy shimmer, right?" I asked carefully. -"Yeah, that too." She replied.

-"Hey, how long do you think we can keep this up?" Vi whispered to me. -"Keep what up?" I asked confused. -"You know, pretending that you're okay." She replied. -"I don't know what you're talking about." I brushed her off. -"Really? Cuz last time you used your powers to kill it was an accident. And now I saw a goon with a burned whole in his chest and nothing but ashes for a heart." She told me and clearly noticed my shocked expression. -"Look I know they attacked us but that was just...fucking brutal." She added.

I stopped in my tracks and pulled Vi on the side. As we were the last ones walking no one really noticed. I put my arm on her throat, squeezing ever so lightly. -"Wha-?!" -"You have no idea what's brutal! I didn't even know. Until I blew up a whole room full of Enforcers...and Ian. I killed him. I killed all of them, because of some good for nothing, corrupted asshole! So don't tell me I'm brutal because they took everything from me. It's only fair I take some of it back!" I could feel my arm getting more heated after every word I said. But Vi didn't fight, she just looked at me with worry in her eyes. And finally I let her go.

-"Why didn't you tell me that...Ian died?" She asked, gathering herself. -"Because then I would have to tell you that I'm the one that killed him. And I couldn't stand you looking at me like I'm a freak...again." I told her, not daring to look in her eyes. I heard her gloves hit the ground and she slowly walked closer to me. -"Look at me." She said but I just couldn't. -"Hey." She said softly and placed her hand on my cheek. Her hand felt so good I couldn't help but lean into it. Then she made me look at her. A few tears fell on the ground but she tried brushing off the rest. -"I just don't wanna loose you. I'm sorry about Ian. I'm sorry that you feel like you're responsible for his death but please. Don't become...the freak." She said, her voice breaking slightly at the end.

It was like her words openned my eyes. I almost threw myself at her in a passionate kiss. Which she returned with the same energy, putting her hands around my waist. -"I'm sorry. I'm so sorry." I pulled away and buried my head in her jacket. -"It's okay. If you wanna choke me you can just ask, you know?" She said with a smirk. I playfully pushed her back. -"You wish." I chuckled a bit as I dried my tears. At that moment Cait appeared next to us. First she didn't say anything, trying to read the room but then she spoke. -"We found something."

It wasn't long until she caught us up to speed. Powder left us a message. An invitation of sorts, she knows we're coming for her. -"I just wanted to make sure that you know what that means if we find her." Cait said with just a hint of anger in her voice. But the rest was worry, about us. -"Maybe she'll listen if we just talk to her." I told her. -"Yeah because that worked so well the last time. My sister is gone, Y/N. All that's left is Jinx." Vi replied almost immediately. I looked down at my feet. Some part of me wants to believe it....I just can't convice the other part to give up on Powder. I know she's in there. I hope she's in there.

-"Send the others back." Vi told Cait. -"What? Are you sure?" She asked confused. -"This is just between us. Plus Y/N can't use her powers with the others watching. It could cost her her life not to use it now. Please." Vi pleaded. Cait was quiet for a second but then let out a sigh. -"You're right. We have to end it on our own. Let's go." She said and we started walking back.

Just before I walked around the corner Cait stopped me. -"What?" I asked but she just gestured to my tattoo. -"Oh shit, sorry." I said a quickly reactivated my glove. -"Where is your head at these days?" She asked. -"In the past mostly. Thinking about what I could've done differently. Same as you." I replied, knowing her well enough to say this. -"We both should stop thinking about that." She said, giving my shoulder a reassuring squeeze. -"Will we though?" I tilted my head to the side. She sighed. -"Let's just keep moving." She let go of me and we joined the others.

We told the others to leave and after just a little arguing with Loris they agreed. Me, Vi and Cait continued ahead. I couldn't help but notice Powder's drawings getting more and more frequent. And finally we stood infront of a big door. Cait got her gun ready. -"Let's go."
