Vi's P.O.V

Few days back, at a bar

-"Hey, don't you think you've had enough for one night?" Loris tried turning me to face him. -"Lay off me, man!" I brushed his hand off and downed another shot. -"You lay off the booze! You still owe me a pair of boots from last time." He replied, knocking ashes off his cigar. I waved at the bartender and he passed me another drink almost immediately.

I picked it up but before I could drink it someone grabbed me by my shoulders and shook me. The liquid spilled all over my hand. I turned around, ready to punch whoever did that. It was just some drunkard, smilling from ear to ear. -"Heeeey! Incredible fight out there! Thanks to you I'm fucking rich!" He said, his breath was so horrible it made my nose scrunch. I just replied with a nod as a signal that I don't wanna be bothered. -"Bartender! Gimme whatever she's having!" Once the drink arrived he cheered and drank it. Apparently that was the last he could take as he collapsed on the floor right after. Loris gave him a side eye but I just kept drinking, unbothered.

It didn't take long for someone to trip over the unconcious body. As the person fall falling they pushed Loris and he crashed into me. I didn't feel it at first, just heard the sizzling. Loris's cigar burned into my arm. -"Shit! I'm sorry, Vi." He quickly gathered himself and wanted to look at it but I pushed away. I got startled because the burn wasn't hurting me, the pain was almost pleasurable. But when I got up all the drinks went to my head. -"You promised you wouldn't burn me!" I yelled and a few people turned my way. -"What?" Loris asked confused. I wanted to apologize but suddenly my shoulder caught on fire. I panicked and barely managed to put the flames out by patting it.

-"Vi, what are you doing?" Loris shook me a little. When I looked at my shoulder it was okay, not even a hint of fire ever touching my jacket. What the fuck?! -"Hey, let's get you upstairs. It's been a long day." He said. When he was leading me through the bar I saw an orange light from the corner of my eye. It was on the other side of the room. -"Match?" I let go of Loris and started pushing through the dance floor towards the light.

When I got closer I finally saw her. She just smiled and me and walked away. -"Wait!" I ran to her. Suddenly someone behind me grabbed my arm. It was her. -"Where are you going?" She asked with the same beautiful smile. -"Let's dance." She tugged my arm. -"No...please let's just talk." I replied but her grip got even tighter. -"Come on, just one dance babygirl!" Her voice got disgustingly demanding and her smile turned into a smirk. -"I said no!" I yelled but after she didn't let go again I punched her.

-"Ughr! The fuck is wrong with you, bitch?!" It wasn't her anymore, some dude was yelling at me while holding his nose. -"I think you've had enough." Another hand landed on my shoulder. When I turned around it was her again. -"What the hell? Stop fucking playing with me!" I pushed her hand off. Her face turned into a cocky smirk. -"Trust me. You don't wanna do this." Her glove folded. -"Afraid you're gonna loose again?" I got in my fighting stance.

-"Vi, calm down!" Loris held me from behind in a bear hug. -"Get off me!" I yelled at him. -"Stop struggling. Just accept it." Y/N walked closer to me. -"You're all alone." She tilted her head with a devious smile. I managed to throw my head back and hit Loris so he let me go. My plan was to slam her to the ground but because of the alcohol I was too slow. She punched me hard and got me in a chokehold. Her arm was pressed to my throat and I could feel it heating up. -"You can't run from me!" She spoke into my ear. -"It burns! Please, Match!" I yelped in pain. -"You broke my heart. It's only fair I break your neck!" Her arm tightened around my throat and the burning intesified. Loris was just standing there, watching it all. I screamed in pain as her arm burned into my skin. -"Please stop!" I pleaded but she only laughed in response.

As another scream left my lungs my body shot up. When my eyes adjusted to the light I saw that I'm in my room. I touched my throat and felt my singed skin. Looking around I noticed that I must've passed out on the heater in my room. Nothing more. Shit, I should turn this thing off. Last thing I need is seeing her in my dreams....well, nightmares. But I'd rather freeze to death than see her one more time.

Y/N's P.O.V

—Present time, at the entrance to the mines—

Vi stopped at some graffity of Powder. It seemed like she had no idea of what's going on out here. She mostly seemed surprised by the fact that Powder is their symbol. -"So they're idolizing a murderer, huh?" She scoffed at the graffity. -"There's a civil war going on, Vi. People need something to believe in." I reply, leaning against a wall not far from her.

Suddely her head turned towards me. -"And you? Did you spend all this time helping the new commander and her war pig?" The way she said it sounded more like an accusation than a question. -"I thought you know me better than that. I don't pick sides." I snapped back. -"Sure you do. You pick all of them!" She continued insulting me. -"You could always join her army. We both know you have a thing for uniforms!" She looked at me with disgust. -"Enough! I did it for you!" I yelled and she stopped her advance. -"Bullshit!" She said anyway. -"Oh really? Do you think I left you because I wanted to?! That I left everything I ever knew because they gave me fancy clothes?" My voice cracked but I kept my posture. -"Oh I'm sure life up there must've been hell." She said sarcastically. -"I left because I couldn't lie to you anymore! I couldn't bear the thought of hurting you if my powers got out of hand!" I felt a tear running down my cheek but neither of us paid any attention to it.

-"You made a fucking promise!" Her gloves let out steam, as if they were feeling her anger. -"So did you! Didn't seem like you were aware of it when you left me crying out your name!" Her eyes widened for a split second but then went back to their angry state. -"Do you have any idea how I felt when I woke up in Stillwater and everyone I knew was dead? I didn't even know why I was in there or for how long! I was a fucking kid and I've spend my night crying out for you! I blamed myself for taking you on that job! I thought you were dead! But it turned out you just decided to ditch us!" I could hear anger and sadness in her voice, but I'm not sure which one was winning. Without thinking I yelled back. -"Yeah, well I wish I did die that day!" Her eyes softened and her shoulders dropped. I knew there was no going back from what I said. Her puppy eyes were enough to make me wanna cry but I continued anyway.

-"Ever since I found you again I've been a mess. I've never felt so....voulnerable. I care about you a lot. You're the best and the worst thing that ever happened to me. But I can't bring myself to hate you, no matter how much I try... So I just hate myself instead." The words left my mouth on their own. After so many months of getting high to hide my feelings, they just burst out. The corners of Vi's lips dropped slightly. -"I'm sorry." She said softly. Those words hit me like a punch to the stomach. I've spend so long wishing to hear her say it. -"Please, I need to hear you say it. I need to know. Do you love me?" It was a question that I've been wondering about for a while now. Since I can remember I've told Vi the truth about my feelings. But I couldn't recall her ever saying it back. -"Do you love me?" My voice was weak, almost afraid of the silence she was giving me.

Her lips parted and she took a sharp breath. -"I....Match, I-" Suddenly Powder dropped between us. -"I got bored! It was only fun when I thought you're gonna fight. She said with a smirk. -"Let's just keep all this mushy stuff for Vander. I'm sure he'll be thrilled to hear that his kids are dating each other." She continued teasing us. Vi scoffed at her as  walked past. -"Well, what are you waiting for? Let's go lesbians, let's go!" With that she walked into the mine, Isha following close behind. I looked at Vi one last time and she was quiet. -"I guess I got my answer." I said and followed Powder. Vi took a breath but didn't say anything. She just quietly joined us.

I don't know why she can't just say it. But I know she feels it too....I hope so. Because I don't know how long I'll be able to handle this silence between us...
