Y/N's P.O.V
—Powder's hideout—
I was amazed when I saw where Powder was living all this time. The place was really something, ignoring the fact you could fall to your death if you took a wrong step. -"This is beautiful Powder." I told her as I looked around. -"Dunno if it'll be up to your standards, there isn't any silk or gold here." She replied with a snarky comment. -"Can we please talk?" I asked but she seemed to completely ignore me. I watched as she took the girl's hat off and put it on some stuffed animal next to her bed. -"What's her name?" I asked, watching from a chair with a smile as Powder tucked her in. -"Isha." She replied, her voice softer than a whisper.
Isha suddenly started signing something, it was really rushed. -"I already told you no. We need to do this alone. I'll come get you after I'm sure she won't kill us." Powder replied. Isha signed another sentance and crossed her arms at her chest. -"Not sleepy, huh? I saw you yawning on the way here." Powder said playfully. She argued with her for a bit but it wasn't going anywhere. -"Can I try something?" I interrupted them. Powder turned to me with stone expression but eventually shrugged and switched seats with me. -"I'm watching you." She added.
Isha looked at me with alert eyes. -"Wanna see something cool?" I smiled at her and folded my glove, letting my tattoo light up the room. I could hear Powder shift swiftly in the chair. Isha saw it and gripped her blanket tightly. -"Wow! Showing her the thing that almost killed us all. Nice one!" Powder scoffed. -"It won't burn you, I swear." I said to the both of them. Isha looked over my shoulder at Powder. I didn't know what they talked about but she decided to trust me. Her little hand touched my tattoo and her eyes immediately lit up. The warmth of my arm must've been a nice change from the cold concreate and metal in Zaun.
She hesitated but eventually gently hugged it and enjoyed the warmth. I glanced at Powder but her gaze was fixated at Isha, the corners of her lips almost forming a smile. I missed her... I let Isha warm herself and then I tucked her in. She was still mesmerized with the light of the tattoo. I gently laid my hand on her cheek and she closed her eyes with a yawn. I softly dragged my fingers across her face. I drew small lines and circles to keep her eyes closed. The warmth helped her relax just as I hoped. I turned to Powder and nodded so we switched places again. -"Night kid. We'll be back before you know it." With that Isha finally fell asleep. Me and Powder quietly left.
—Outside—
As soon as we got back up on the streets I began walking to the fightclub. I stopped when I didn't hear any footsteps behind me. Powder stood still with her arms resting on her hips. -"Are you okay?" I asked, taking a few steps back towards her. She hung her head. -"Vander's alive." She said it with such pain in her voice. I knew she wasn't lying. But suddenly I had nothing to say. I just started at her.
-"I'm not making this up." She said. -"I know. I just need to ask....Are you sure you weren't just imagining it?" I tried to be gentle with my words but there was no nicer way to say it. -"I can tell what's real." She defended herself. -"Okay, okay. I believe you. Now I know why you suddenly decided for a family reunion with Vi." I joked but she didn't find it funny. -"She's my sister, she deserves to know her dad is alive." Her eyes met mine. -"Let's go tell her then." I smiled. -"Wait....I wanted to thank you. Seems like fire can be more than just destructive, although it's boring when it's not. That trick you did with the drawing was really nice." She chuckled. -"Isha deserves a good nights sleep." I replied. -"I wasn't talking about her." She once again avoided my gaze. I couldn't help but smile when I realized she remembered. -"You don't have to thank me for that, Powder. I always considered you my little sister." I told her. -"If you try to hug me I'm gonna blow your head off. Let's go." She pushed me aside with a slight smile.
Powder was really talkitive the whole way. -"Okay but like if you consider me your sister. Isn't your relationship with Vi kind of an incest?" She blurted out all of a sudden. -"Powder! How can you even say-aaaaghr!" A piercing pain brought me to my knees. Powder looked at me with worry. -"Y/N?" Her raspy voice rang through my head. Everything she was saying was so loud I couldn't even understand it. I quickly pulled out the Shimmer vial and took a swing. Shit...it's getting more frequent. After I took a few deep breaths I looked up at Powder. Her expression was a mix of worry and disgust. -"So Vi's an alcoholic and you're an addict? And here I was thinking that I'm the dissapointment of the family." She said and kept on walking. I stood up on my own. -"You don't get it. It helps me." I told her. -"It helps everyone. Until it doesn't. This shit was forced inside me. You're putting it there willingly...." Was the last thing she said. The rest of the way was quiet and I couldn't help but feel like it was my fault....
We stood under Vi's window and listened to her absolutely destroying the punching bag. She was screaming and crying. -"Oh my god. I didn't know it was this bad...." I said, almost as if I could feel her pain with every hit. -"Jeez, wouldn't like to be her neighbor." Powder scoffed. I turned to her with my eyes widened. -"What? It's like one in the morning." She said and shrugged her shoulders. I nodded in agreement.
Suddenly we hear a loud thud. -"She's down. Let's get in there." Powder walked under her window. -"Gimme a boost." She snapped her fingers at me. I got ready bellow the window and entertwinded my fingers. I held her foot as she tried openning the window. -"I need to get higher!" She said when her fingertips just brushed against the windowsill. -"Step on my shoulders." I told her. She put one of her feet on my shoulder and finally I heard the window open. Then she used the other leg to boost herself up off my face. -"Oops! Missed." She looked down with a smirk once she was inside. I rolled my eyes at her and took the hand she was holding out for me. I closed the window behind us.
-"Yeesh, you should've kept it openned. Reeks of loneliness and depression in here!" Powder said, looking around the room. My eyes were fixated on Vi, who was passed out on the floor. I extended my arm towards her but Powder stopped me. -"As funny as that would be, I don't want her to think we faught again, go wash that bootprint off your face." She said, pointing to the sink in the room. I walked to it and looked into the broken mirror. Sure enough, Powder's bootprint was across half of my face. -"Did you engrave "fuck you" on the sole?" I asked as I was washing it off. She let out an amused snort. -"Yeah."
I was checking if I got it all when I heard another big thud. I barely managed to turn around before I felt a hand around my throat. -"Vi-" I couldn't say anything as her grip tightened. -"Sis, let her go!" Powder got up from the ground. -"So you're working with her now? How many sides are you playing at?" Vi said furiously, never letting her eyes off me. -"V-Vander's alive." I said weakly. -"That's a new low, even for you! Did she put you up to this?" She scoffed. My vision started to blur. -"Vi, she isn't lying!" Powder tried going closer but she pushed her away with ease. I said when I saw the black spots getting bigger. My limbs got more numb by the second. -"Please...." I pleaded. Her eyes softened and she let go of me.
I coughed as I hit the floor. I was kneeling down, holding the sink. While I was gathering myself Powder explained everything to Vi. -"I'll take you to where I lost him. You need to trust me." She said. I finally stood up. -"I don't need to do shit." Vi replied angrily. -"Vi, please. We need to see this through. I know there's a part of you that wants to. We need you....I need you." I told her. She took a few seconds to think but then sighned. -"Alright, but I'm not taking my eyes off her." She said, looking at Powder. -"All bark, no bite. Let's go." She replied and walked to the window. -"Use the fucking door, next time." Vi told her. -"Where's the fun in that? Meet you at the mines." She replied and jumped out the window.
Quiet filled the room. The only sound was when Vi pulled out her gloves from under the bed. -"Are those really necessary?" I asked her but she didn't reply. -"Vi?" I took a step closer to her and laid my hand on her back. My touch seemed to startle her at first but then she relaxed and turned around. Her hurt eyes met mine. She openned her mouth like she wanted to say something but then she walked to the door. -"You coming, Match?" She held them open for me. I walked to the door and brushed my hand on her stomach as I passed her. She took a deep breath and closed the door.
Let's hope Powder wasn't wrong about this.
