Namjoon’s POV
“So the reason the two are now lovey-dovey is because what now?” I asked, raising an eyebrow at Eunji and Siwoo as we all peeked through the blinds. I couldn’t help but feel weirded out seeing Yoongi—my perpetually stoic, icy cousin—acting like a lovesick fool. It was baffling, yet somehow, I couldn’t stop looking.
Hoseok was laughing at something Yoongi had whispered, his head resting on Yoongi’s shoulder while Yoongi had this soft, smitten expression that didn’t belong on his usually expressionless face. It was... unsettling.
Eunji smirked, nudging Siwoo. “Told you it was gonna happen eventually.”
Siwoo snorted. “Yeah, but I didn’t think it’d take this much drama. Stabbing, misunderstandings, barging into offices—it’s like we work in a soap opera.”
“Wait,” I interrupted, narrowing my eyes at them. “You mean to tell me they didn’t even know who the other was until Hoseok got stabbed? And then Hoseok had to see Yoongi with some random woman to push things along?”
Siwoo shrugged nonchalantly. “Pretty much.”
Eunji nodded, grinning. “You should’ve been here for it. The chaos was priceless.”
I shook my head in disbelief. “And now they’re... like this?” I gestured toward the blinds, where Yoongi had leaned in to kiss Hoseok on the temple. “This is so surreal. I mean, I’m happy for him, but still...”
“You’re happy,” Eunji teased, “but also super weirded out.”
“Exactly,” I admitted.
The reason I was even at Yoongi’s company at midnight was simple: I had some free time and wanted to check in on him. It wasn’t every day my famously aloof cousin entered a serious relationship, let alone got married to someone as energetic and vibrant as Hoseok. But seeing them now, so utterly in sync, made me realize how much things had changed.
I was about to say something else when a voice interrupted my thoughts.
“Namjoon?”
I turned around, startled, and saw Jin standing there, his arms crossed and an amused smile playing on his lips.
“Jin,” I said, blinking at him in surprise.
Eunji and Siwoo exchanged knowing looks, their playful smirks growing wider. Without a word, they both excused themselves, leaving me alone with my fiancé.
Jin stepped closer, his sharp features glowing under the dim office lights. “So, what’s this I hear about you spying on Yoongi and Hoseok?”
“I wasn’t spying,” I said defensively, though the heat creeping up my neck probably gave me away. “I was... observing.”
Jin raised an eyebrow, clearly unconvinced. “Observing?”
“Yes,” I said, crossing my arms. “I came here to check on them, and Eunji and Siwoo dragged me into their nonsense.”
Jin chuckled softly, the sound warm and familiar. “You’re such a terrible liar, Joon.”
I sighed, running a hand through my hair. “Fine. Maybe I was curious. It’s just... weird seeing Yoongi like this. I didn’t think he was capable of being romantic, let alone acting like—”
“A love-struck teenager?” Jin finished for me, a teasing glint in his eyes.
“Exactly.”
Jin smiled knowingly. “Well, love has a way of surprising people. Even someone like Yoongi.”
I studied him for a moment, noticing the way his gaze softened as he looked at me. “What are you doing here anyway?” I asked, changing the subject. “I thought you had a shoot today.”
“I did,” Jin said, shrugging. “It ended earlier than expected, so I decided to swing by. I needed to ask Yoongi something.”
“What about?”
Jin hesitated for a moment, then said, “You.”
“Me?” I repeated, caught off guard.
He nodded, his expression turning serious. “I’ve been thinking a lot about us lately. About how far we’ve come and what we want moving forward.”
My heart skipped a beat. Jin and I had been engaged for a while now, but our relationship hadn’t started traditionally. For the first five months, we barely knew each other, only meeting occasionally to fulfill expectations. But over time, we’d grown closer, learning each other’s quirks and habits. Now, we were in a place where we genuinely cared for each other, but marriage still felt like a big leap.
“We’ve been taking our time,” Jin continued, “and I’m glad for that. But I wanted to talk to Yoongi about how he knew he was ready for this step with Hoseok. Not because I’m rushing us,” he added quickly, “but because I want to make sure we’re on the same page.”
I stared at him, my chest tightening with emotion. “Jin, you didn’t have to come all the way here for that. You could’ve just talked to me.”
“I know,” he said with a small smile. “But sometimes, it helps to get an outside perspective. Besides, I like seeing you flustered.”
I rolled my eyes, though I couldn’t suppress the smile tugging at my lips. “You’re impossible.”
“And you love it,” Jin said smugly.
I sighed, shaking my head. “Come on. Let’s go talk to Yoongi and Hoseok before they get too wrapped up in each other to notice us.”
Jin laughed, and together, we headed toward the exit door. As much as Yoongi’s newfound affection weirded me out, it was also kind of inspiring. Maybe it was time for me to take a page out of his book and start thinking about the next step in my own relationship.
After all, if Yoongi could find happiness in love, then maybe I could too.
