The sun sat heavy in the sky, casting long shadows through the abandoned city streets. My hunt had become a game of patience. Each step I took was calculated, every movement designed to stay just out of sight yet close enough to observe. I knew exactly who I was looking for.

Katsuki Bakugo.

The name alone brought a smirk to my face. My old "friend." The so-called hero candidate with more rage than brains. Watching him stumble through this game had been a personal delight, but I wasn't here just to reminisce.

And as luck would have it, Bakugo wasn't alone. Trailing him was none other than Denki Kaminari. The dim-witted lightning user tried to be subtle, keeping a distance as he followed his explosive classmate. It was almost cute, in a pathetic way.

"You really don't learn, do you?" I muttered under my breath, leaning against the wall of a crumbling building.

Kaminari's attempts at stealth were laughable, his clumsy movements practically screaming his location to anyone paying attention. Bakugo hadn't noticed yet—too focused on whatever internal monologue was fueling his relentless march—but I had.

And I decided to intervene.

Slipping into the shadows, I followed Kaminari for a few blocks, my footsteps silent against the cracked pavement. His obliviousness was almost insulting, but it made things easier for me. He was walking right into my trap without even realizing it.

When the moment felt right, I made my move.

Emerging from the shadows, I grabbed Kaminari by the back of his collar and yanked him into a side alley. He let out a startled yelp, but I clamped a hand over his mouth before he could scream.

"Shhh," I whispered, leaning close to his ear. "You don't want Bakugo to hear, do you?"

His eyes went wide with fear, and I could feel him trembling under my grip.

"Relax," I said, shoving him against the wall. "This won't take long."

Kaminari's first instinct was to fight back. He raised his hands, sparks of electricity crackling between his fingers, but I was faster. Before he could unleash his quirk, I grabbed his wrist and twisted it sharply, forcing him to drop his guard.

"Electricity's a tricky thing," I said, my voice calm and almost conversational. "Useful in the right hands. Dangerous, even. But you? You're all flash and no substance."

He tried to kick me, his movements wild and desperate, but I sidestepped easily and delivered a sharp elbow to his ribs. He gasped, the air leaving his lungs in a rush, and collapsed to his knees.

"Pathetic," I muttered, crouching down to his level. "You can't even put up a fight. And yet, you thought you could follow someone like Bakugo? You're a liability, Denki. Always have been."

Blood dripped from the corner of his mouth as he glared up at me, defiance flickering in his eyes despite the pain.

"Go to hell," he spat, his voice weak but steady.

I laughed, shaking my head. "Bold words for someone who can't even stand."

Grabbing him by the front of his shirt, I lifted him off the ground and slammed him against the wall. He groaned, his head lolling to the side as he struggled to stay conscious.

"Let me make something clear," I said, my tone dropping to a dangerous whisper. "If it weren't for the rules of this little game, you'd already be dead. You're lucky I'm feeling generous."

I let him drop to the ground, his body crumpling into a heap at my feet. For a moment, I considered leaving him there, but something about his defiance irked me. He hadn't learned his lesson yet.

Leaning down, I grabbed his wrist again and applied pressure to the nerves, sending a jolt of pain through his arm. He cried out, the sound sharp and raw, but I didn't let go.

"Remember this," I said, my voice cold. "The next time you think about playing hero, remember how easily I broke you."

Before I could do anything further, a familiar voice cut through the air like a gunshot.

"Get your damn hands off him!"

I turned to see Bakugo standing at the entrance to the alley, his crimson eyes blazing with fury. His hands crackled with explosions, the light casting an eerie glow across his face.

"Ah, Bakugo," I said, straightening up and dusting off my hands. "Right on time."

"Usagi," he growled, his voice low and threatening. "You're dead."

I laughed, stepping over Kaminari's limp form as I faced my old rival. "Big talk, as always. But tell me, Katsuki—are you actually going to back it up this time?"

He didn't respond with words. Instead, he lunged at me, his explosions roaring to life as he closed the distance between us. I dodged to the side, narrowly avoiding the blast, and retreated a few steps.

"Careful," I said, smirking. "You wouldn't want to hurt your little friend over there."

Bakugo froze for a split second, his eyes darting to Kaminari's unconscious form. It was all the opening I needed.
