───── KING'S ORDERS

ROWAN WAS called to Auradon Prep about a week before school started again, and met Ben in his office. She stood in front of the future King's desk, hands by her sides.

"I've made my first decision as King," Ben said, "Well, King to be... I've decided to open up the barrier to the Isle kids. Not- Not all of them at once, of course!" He fumbled over his words slightly when he saw the shocked look on the princesses face.

"Not all of them?" Rowan asked, "Why not?"

"Well... You know, as much as I'm doing this to give the Isle kids a chance, we still need to make sure this is the right decision for the future of Auradon. So, we'll take it slow, a few at a time."

Rowan supposed that made sense. Although she believed that Villain Kids weren't all like their parents, some still could be. It was important to make sure no one came to wreak havoc.

"So what does that have to do with me? Do I get to pick them or something?"

Ben chuckled at Rowan's hopeful expression, shaking his head. "No, no. The four Isle kids who are coming over have been chosen. I just need you to show them around. Of course, I'll be there to welcome them, and give them the rundown on how things work around here, but I have a busy schedule and need someone else to show them to their classrooms, their dorms, all the important places. Of course, as our school's tour guide-"

"When did I get that title?"

"Well, I- It's kind of an unofficial thing, I guess. You do tend to be the one to show the new people around, so... Anyway! You'll be up for it, right?"

"Of course I will! You know I've always been up for opening up the barrier, and I'm glad you've made this decision. It's... It's really important, Ben."

Ben smiles, placing his hand on top of Rowan's that was now resting on his desk. "One more thing, I chose the four kids who I think need the most help. Possibly the most... intimidating ones."

"Intimidating? What, like the child of Hades or something?" Rowan jokes.

"Not quite, Hades doesn't have a daughter. I... I chose Evie, daughter of the Evil Queen, Jay, son of Jafar, Carlos, son of Cruella, and... Mal, daughter of Maleficent."

"And your father's okay with this?"

"It took him some convincing, especially with Mal, but he came around. They'll be here next week on the first day of school. I've already spoken to Fairy Godmother about you not attending your first few lessons in order for you to give a tour, you'll meet us outside the school at 9AM. You're okay with this, right?"

"More than okay with it."

Ben nods and Rowan begins to walk out, her long hair swaying behind her. "Hey, Rowan?"

She turns back around. "Yes?"

"Make sure they know they're welcomed. Not just to Auradon as a place, but... as a society, as a people."

Rowan nods, her familiar warm smile gracing her soft features. "Trust me, I will."
