sunday, nov. 3
detroit, mi

Sundays were usually my self care days. I enjoyed getting all of my work and studying out of the way throughout the week, or at least trying to, so that I could have my Sundays all to myself. I didn't have anything to do today except lounge around my apartment, but Nicki wanted to talk, and after a long night of thinking, I decided that I would hear her out.

We made plans to meet up somewhere public. I chose Campus Martius Park. It was a public park in the heart of downtown, and they had already started decorating it for Christmas. I thought it would be a nice place to meet so that we could lay everything out without too many other people around, and so that I could leave easily if things went left.

When I found a nice parking spot and made my way over to the park, I was nervous. I didn't know what to expect with this talk. The last time I saw Nicki, she was furious, and I honestly didn't even know if she was over everything that happened. I really just wanted an apology, and maybe an explanation for her actions. I spotted her sitting on a bench with her nose buried in her phone. As I approached her, I made a mental note to keep my cool, and to leave peacefully if things went sideways. I was only here to hear her out. Nothing more, nothing less.

She looked up as she heard me walking closer, and immediately stood up.

"Beyoncé... hey."

"Hey," I said softly.

She awkwardly looked down at the bench, gesturing towards it. "You can sit down if you want to. I don't know how long this will take."

"No, I'm okay."

"Right.." She nodded slowly. "Um, well, I wanted to talk to you because I have a lot to apologize for. I was really overstepping your boundaries, and I'm sorry. I really don't have a reason for why I did what I did. I guess I just wanted to confirm my suspicions."

I crossed my arms. "But why? That's none of your business, Nicki. Yes, I'm Honey. I don't care that you somehow found out about it. My issue is that you were trying to force an answer out of me when I was clearly uncomfortable. I'm really sorry for grabbing you and hurting you, but you started touching my things without even asking, and you were demanding an answer from me. I was very uncomfortable."

"I'm sorry, Beyoncé," she sighed.

"Sorry is all you can say? You judged me, then turned around and humiliated me, Nicki. We had our little mess at my apartment, but that doesn't justify you telling other people my business!"

She looked at me apologetically. "I swear I didn't tell Lauren about... that after our fight. I told her days before that, but I didn't tell anyone else. I didn't know that she would tell people."

"Do you really think it's okay to go around telling people stuff about me, though? Yes, I do things on the internet, but that's nobody's business! We just met last week! How can you think that something like this is okay?" I asked, my throat feeling tight as I held back tears.
